Would Recommend?yesI recommend it to all my staff who want to pursue a higher social work degree. My senior in high school has been accepted there as well, and we are proud to send her.
Program Reputation10The UA school of Social Work has an excellent reputation. It is reputed to be the best social work school in the state of Alabama.
Program Quality10UA has a school of Social Work. The MSW program is very well planned, including a course of study that is germane to my career. An internship is required of 500 hours in a social work field, which helped me to learn other community social work agencies.
Instruction10The curriculum in the MSW program is extremely relevant. Psychopathology and Crisis Intervention were my two favorite courses. The two required research courses were very interesting and have helped me to conduct social research in my current job.
How Difficult5I had worked as a social worker for over 10 years before going on to UA for MSW. Therefore, most of the curriculum was not difficult for me. However, the assignments were challenging and required much preparation.
Hands-On vs. BookishEvery class I took had books that were to be read after class. The class time was set aside for lecture. The lectures were very interesting and helped me focus when I did the reading.
Schedule Flexibility10UA offers weekday, weekend, night, and now online courses for students who want to earn an MSW. The school has also branched out into satellite classrooms around the state, where the UA professors teach on given nights.
Academic Facilities10The UA campus is beautiful. The library is huge and has a wonderful reference center. The school of social work had computer labs open at night for students who needed to come in to complete research. The school also has a virtual library that can be accessed from home.
Social Life7I was an older student. I did not go to parties or organized social events. But the school had both. However, I am a die hard Alabama football fan and continue to participate every chance I get in school spirit functions.
Placement Services8Although I already had a career when I went to school for my Master's Degree, I was able to see that other students were assisted in career placement. Public Service agencies offer stipends to students who agree to come work for that agency after graduation.
Alumni Network9I am a member of the alumni association. I receive a quarterly magazine from the school. I also have a listing of all the meetings in the area. I get discounts on travel and school football items.

Would Recommend?yesI would recommend my school to anyone looking for a smaller school or anyone interested in an engineering career.
Program Reputation8Though my school is mainly an engineering school, the business program is also highly ranked.
Program Quality9UAH has been a great choice, not only to get a degree, but to learn life skills and further my career even more.
Instruction8The professors at the university are well trained and very helpful. The overall ambiance is very homelike and fits me well.
How Difficult4I went to a prep school up north for high school, which was very difficult; therefore, the level of study at UAH is not too difficult for me.
Hands-On vs. BookishIt depends on what class you are attending and how the class is taught.
Schedule Flexibility4I wish there were more online classes offered. The rest of the classes are scheduled evenly throughout the day.
Academic Facilities5In the last year, the school has made blueprints to further and better the expansion of UAH.
Social Life8I have been very involved at school, attending all the athletic events and social events.
Placement Services4Since my school is located in an engineering town, there are not as many jobs in the business world.
Alumni Network1The alumni network is not very involved. I am in a sorority, and the alumni network for it does almost nothing.
