"I was satisfied with the school. I wish they had a dual-concentration to prepare students for the state test."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

Would Recommend?yesKU is a top notch school and has a quality social work program. Many of the professors are published and appear to really care about their students.
Program Reputation10KU has a solid reputation among schools in Kansas. The professors are established and have been published.
Program Quality8The program at KU was good. I wish that they would have offered a dual study (Clinical and Administration) option as our state test has both concentrations.
Instruction6A lot of the curriculum focused on upper-management responsibilities. I am considered middle management.
How Difficult7The workload was similar to my Bachelor's experience at a different school. At times it was overwhelming and others it was manageable.
Hands-On vs. BookishThere was a mixture of hands on learning as well as the textbooks. We also used research that the professors had written.
Schedule Flexibility8Since I lived two hours away from KU, they'd allow for students to travel to the college one day per week in order to take the required classes.
Academic Facilities8KU resources were great and accessible. They had many resources in order to do whatever research was needed.
Social Life5Since I was married with two young children while attending school I did not have time to participate in any activates.
Placement Services5I did not use these services as I was already employed while attending school.
Alumni Network5KU has a good alumni network but I do not participate in it.

"Generally very satisfied with academic quality. Not as satisfied with job placement support. Tuition was also very high."

Would Recommend?maybeI would recommend the school based on academics and reputation. I would encourage students to look for a school with more affordable tuition, however.
Program Reputation8My school has a good reputation for social work education. I would recommend it to others, in part, on this basis.
Program Quality8I'm definitely satisfied with my overall school experience. I felt that some aspects were missing, including a class focusing on Social Justice.
Instruction10All instructors were highly qualified and talented teachers. Professors were always accessible for questions. They provided a good curriculum.
How Difficult6Difficulty was appropriate to graduate level. Some courses were not challenging enough, I felt.
Hands-On vs. BookishThere was good book learning in classes. Practicum provided plenty of opportunities for hands-on learning. It was a good mix.
Schedule Flexibility9Classes were offered at two campuses on different days of the week. I could take all my classes on the same day of the week, leaving time for practicum and an outside job. I was very satisfied with the flexibility.
Academic Facilities4The library resources were good, but classrooms and technology were lacking. There were only a few dedicated classrooms for the social work program.
Social Life5Only attended for graduate school, so I did not participate in many campus activities. There was good cohesion and communication with fellow students in the program.
Placement Services3Very little support in terms of job placement after graduation. I had more support from my fellow students in finding/obtaining work.
Alumni Network3I did not receive much support from our alumni network. I would not consider myself satisfied with this aspect.

"The school helped prepare me for the working world. It also gave me some of the best times of my life. I would recommend going to KU to anyone."

Would Recommend?yesI made a lot of friends and learned so much in 4 years at school. It is a great place to live and go to school.
Program Reputation7The English program at KU is very good, and has a decent reputation around the country. Many of the professors have written books and often travel around the country to give lectures.
Program Quality8The degree I graduated with was English, and the school I went to had a great English program. It was always interesting and I did not mind going to classes.
Instruction6College prepared me for the working world by showing me how to deal with situations and people. I think they did an adequate job.
How Difficult6As with any school, some classes were more demanding than others. The amount of work depended on the class, but overall it was not overbearing, though at times it was challenging.
Hands-On vs. BookishAs with most colleges, there is a lot of independent work to be done, but there were always study hours in which you could get hands on help with work. The teachers made themselves available to students a lot if they needed extra help.
Schedule Flexibility9The school offered classes at all hours of the day 5 days a week. There were also summer classes available and web classes.
Academic Facilities7The school has 3 libraries that are all very modern and are great places to study. The classrooms were all updated despite being in older buildings.
Social Life8There were always things to do at school. Sporting events were the most common way to interact with other students, and there were always school sponsored parties and gatherings as well.
Placement Services7I used the Career Services at the school to help me decide what I wanted to do for a job. The program was informative and interesting, and definitely helped me decide what to do.
Alumni Network5I did not use the school's alumni network as I did not live in the same state as the school after graduation. I have heard that it is average in helping graduated students.
