"I was very satisfied with the University of Oregon. I'm considering going back to this school to obtain a master's degree. The size of the city and the resources available make all the difference. The staff and faculty make the school a great place, and the students are there to learn."

Would Recommend?yesYes, definitely. The University of Oregon is a great liberal arts school, with many different majors and options to obtain a degree.
Program Reputation9The school is one of the only accredited human services programs in Oregon and is constantly raising the bar in excellence.
Program Quality9My program is an excellent undergraduate human services program. It's within the School of Education at University of Oregon and is one of the only accredited human services programs in Oregon. The professors and faculty are intelligent, enthusiastic people.
Instruction10The Family and Human Services program consists of a small cohort of students. This allows for the students and professors to get to know each other and not feel like a small fish in a big pond (which can often happen at large public universities).
How Difficult7The internship hours outside of class are definitely rigorous, but if this is the line of work that you wish to be doing, it doesn't feel too much like an extremely difficult major. The classes are pretty long, with lots of reading to challenge the students.
Hands-On vs. BookishMy program is a two-year program that is set up to be half classes/homework and half internships/direct field experience. This was extremely nice and gave me the chance to get real-world experience while also obtaining my degree.
Schedule Flexibility7The program doesn't offer any night classes or distance ed classes, but the schedule is pretty flexible, in that classes are only held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the rest of the week is open to internships and homework/studying, etc.
Academic Facilities10Upon my last year at the University of Oregon, a brand-new building was built for the School of Education. Family and Human Services is within the School of Education, so the new offices/classes were located there. The building was a "green" building that offered many different things, such as conference room space, study space, a cafe, and access to printing.
Social Life9Most of my social circle was actually outside of my cohort; it was nice, because I spent so much time with students from my major that it was nice to have a break. It was also nice to speak with other students and discuss their own majors.
Placement Services9As an Oregonian, I plan on living in Oregon for most of my life, which makes it much easier for me to build a network. I now live in Portland, OR, and everyone here is extremely familiar with the program's name and notoriety.
Alumni Network6The network could use some improvements. I could easily find the contact info of select students or faculty, but not necessarily through the university's alumni network.
