Would Recommend?yesVCU has a good fashion design program. I think it prepares students well for entering a fashion related career.
Program Reputation7VCU isn't the most highly ranked school out there, but their art programs are really good. There were lots of kids in fashion design, merchandising, and theater.
Program Quality8It was a lot of work but I really learned a lot.
Instruction9VCU had good professors that helped you if you needed it.
How Difficult7There was a lot of work and projects to complete and I often stayed up all night to complete them in time.
Hands-On vs. BookishI was required to do lots of sketches and projects. I also did some draping and eventually sewed a few complete pieces.
Schedule Flexibility5Scheduling was average when compared to other schools. I took classes mostly during regular weekday hours.
Academic Facilities7I was able to use the workrooms after hours, which was nice. It allowed me to fully concentrate on my work.
Social Life7I was in a sorority my first two years and it was fun because I got to meet lots of new people. I soon had to quit because school work took up all my time.
Placement Services2My school didn't help me find a job at all. I searched want ads until I found a position I could do.
Alumni NetworkI moved to CA and haven't really been in touch with anyone from school.
