Would Recommend?yesThere are a few reasons I would recommend the school. The teachers are fair, and very talented. The classes are hands on, and you learn the skills you need to get a job. The school is also much cheaper than some other schools I was looking at.
Program Reputation5I don't think the school has much of a reputation for my major. It is very small, and few people know about it. It has a bigger reputation for audio engineering, where they are famous for their very high end equipment and alumni who have worked for some famous bands. Most people would just look at me with a blank stare when I say what college I went to.
Program Quality9I thought my school was great for advertising, marketing, and design. The classes were small, so there was a lot of individual attention. I learned quite a bit, and had a job after graduating.
Instruction10The instructors were very skilled and had lots of experience in their fields. I learned all the tools of the trade, and was ready for work by the time I graduated. All of the classes were worth the time and provided something of value.
How Difficult5The work load was acceptable and I found the classes somewhat easy, but that was because I was naturally good at it. The only real challenges came if you procrastinated towards finals, when large projects were due.
Hands-On vs. BookishThe school is very hands on. Right away you are digging into programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, and so on. Of course, there was theory you had to learn, but I liked how hands on it was. Right away you knew whether the major was for you or not. You didn't have to wait until junior year before you really got hands on like most schools.
Schedule Flexibility5The school offered evening options and you could take classes during the summer. However, there were no weekend classes, and you couldn't take classes online.
Academic Facilities9The school had two computer labs filled with new Apple computers, and it was easy to get access to them when you had projects to do. Students and teachers were very helpful and often available for after class help and tutoring.
Social Life3The school was below average. There needs to be more special events and things to do. It was lacking in school spirit as well. There were some fun parties, and I did meet a lot of good friends.
Placement Services5The school offers a great course on preparing for job placement. The school itself has little connections in the industry, and I found my job on my own, without any assistance from the school. However, now they have a "Hire Me" website that showcases graduates for hire, which was featured by CNN. This website existed after I had already graduated and had a job.
Alumni Network2I would rate this poorly. There doesn't seem to be any alumni network at all. I don't receive any kind of communication from the school. I don't receive any alumni emails, or anything in the mail. The only way to be connected to the school alumni is through social media, like Facebook and Twitter.
