"I feel the teachers could have been more involved in the salon experience, they strongly emphasized learning from the book."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | maybe | I'm not sure if I would recommend it. I may refer them to another school where the teachers were more attentive during the salon experience. |
| Program Reputation | 5 | I'm not really sure. I haven't lived in this town in eleven years. |
| Program Quality | 5 | I thought the teachers could have been more involved. I think when you tell someone how to do something without showing them, it makes it more difficult to learn. |
| Instruction | 5 | I think the instructors could have done a better job. I learned more in a real salon than I did in school. |
| How Difficult | 3 | I was surprised at how well I did. I was an average student in high school but above average in college because I really loved what I was going to school for. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | We had both hands-on and textbook learning. In the first part of the year, we learned in a class room and the second part of the year, we learned out on the floor in the salon part of the class room. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 5 | I'm not sure about flexibility, as I went only during the day. I'm not sure what the evenings, etc. were like. |
| Academic Facilities | 5 | I don't recall ever going to the library in my school. If I did, it wasn't for a very long. |
| Social Life | 7 | It was okay, I guess. I was always a loner in school and I never really cared to participate in these types of events. |
| Placement Services | 5 | I tried using the job placement services. I didn't get much help from the school but found a job on my own. |
| Alumni Network | 5 | I chose average because I don't really know. I don't keep up with the alumni network. |

"I got what I expected from the school. I wasn't expecting anything fancy, and I knew what I was paying for. I got what I needed to start off and now I am working at a job I wouldn't have been able to get otherwise."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

| Would Recommend? | maybe | If you are good at learning on your own the school will get you what you need to get for a basic job. You will be able to get your license. However, if you can't pick things up quickly and do not learn easily with only the basics under your belt then you may want to consider another school. |
| Program Reputation | 1 | The school is known for students graduating without the skills that they should upon completion. They are known for teaching you how to pass state boards, not how to be a good hair dresser. |
| Program Quality | 6 | The school gets you the hours that you need, which is the ultimate goal. Many things could be done differently or in better ways but you get what you pay for. I was happy with my instructors and left with what I needed. |
| Instruction | 4 | I feel that I was extremely unprepared and did not have some basic skills before leaving school. It is commonly said that you learn most or all important techniques after leaving school, however, some basic things that should have been included were not. |
| How Difficult | 1 | There was no challenge, this was the main reason I added an extra major where most people don't. Book work was very basic and in class work was not strictly judged. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | Only one all-book class was required other than basic core classes, and the work was easy. The other classes had book work on a limited basis, mostly easy assignments that had to be completed online. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 1 | No flexibility is available within the actual program. Core classes and book work can be done online but the actual program is four days a week with daytime classes that last the majority of the day! |
| Academic Facilities | 10 | The salon that students work in is very nice, it's one of the redeeming factors. The school library is also very nice, with plenty of current computers, a wide variety of books and magazines and very nice staff. Tutors were available only for core classes. |
| Social Life | 7 | The student center was very nice and there were things going on pretty often. Sports weren't a big thing. |
| Placement Services | 1 | There was no help with job placement. I was told I would have help and that a lot of people contacted the school asking for the top stylists from classes who were finishing and that never happened. |
| Alumni Network | 5 | I have not been involved in anything with the school since leaving. They claimed that they help you find a job upon completion of programs, no such help was ever given. |
