"Overall I learned the basics that I needed to know. I learned the rest once I got my first job in the field."

Would Recommend?maybeIf you had really put a lot of thought into the career, and new the ins and outs, I would probably recommend it if you already had a talent for hair.
Program Reputation8The school was the best for cosmetology at the time, and that is why I attended. I believe that they may be out of business now.
Program Quality7The instructor wanted things done her way, and not necessarily the right way. It led to complications after getting my first job out of school.
Instruction4I don't feel that I was taught the proper techniques that were needed in the real-world environment. I was clueless on a lot of different styling and coloring techniques once starting my new job.
How Difficult6Overall it was fairly easy as long as you paid attention in class. The hardest part for me was when I went out on the floor for the first time to do real hair.
Hands-On vs. BookishThis is why I loved cosmetology school; It was very hands on. We would learn a chapter, and then put what we learned into action on mannequins and then on real people. Once we got out onto the floor we only had one day of "theory" per week and the rest was hands on.
Schedule Flexibility10You could attend both day or night classes. I chose night classes because I held a job during the day.
Academic Facilities10We had access to top of the line tools and products. The salon that we used once we were out on the floor was great as well, and supplied everything we needed.
Social Life10Again, cosmetology school isn't like an ordinary school where you have social events etc. I did make several friends, and we did have several contests, but that was it.
Placement Services5I chose average because even though they didn't help place me in a job, I got a lot of good leads through people that come in to show us different hair techniques. That is how I found my current job.
Alumni Network1It was cosmetology school, so there was no alumni network that I was aware of. Once I finished my state exam that was it - I got no support afterwards.

"Overall, I had a great experience at this school. I had good and bad experiences, but I got what I paid for."

Would Recommend?yesI would definitely recommend this school to others. The school offers a great experience to those who are really willing to experience it.
Program Reputation7The school has received mixed reviews about their academic services. They also remain at the top for the services they provide.
Program Quality8The school I attended was great in academics, but they lacked organization and communication. Overall, the school was great.
Instruction9The instructors were very knowledgeable. They just had a very high turnover.
How Difficult8The program was not difficult to me, as it came natural to me. However, others did have some difficulties.
Hands-On vs. BookishThe school provided a really good mix between hands on and book learning. Most of the chapters in the book had a hands-on activity to go with it.
Schedule Flexibility8The school was very flexible with scheduling, and they allowed days or time off when needed. I never had a problem with attendance.
Academic Facilities5The school provided all the supplies needed. The space provided for labs seemed crowded at times.
Social Life10The school had great social interaction. They also organized many social events for the school and public.
Placement Services1The school did not have much of a career placement program. The school only checked up to see if and where you were working.
Alumni Network4I have not had much contact with the school since graduating. The school did not have much of a career placement program.
Review your current or past school and help others make better career decisions.
