Program Quality10Western Governors University is an awesome school. I have enjoyed my time there. Massanutten Tech center is where I received my cosmetology training. It was also a wonderful experience.
Instruction10Both schools have prepared me for my career. I was prepared when I was doing hair and nails and now I am equipped with the information I need to successfully manage the spa.
How Difficult8Both schools were challenging. Even though they were difficult they prepared me with the information I needed.
Hands-On vs. BookishSome of my classes required me to learn a lot of information from a book. There were also many classes that focused on hands-on learning.
Schedule Flexibility10Western Governors University is an online school. The classes are done on your schedule .
Academic Facilities10I was at my house most of the time. On some occasions I had to visit a library or testing center to take an exam.
Social Life10While it is an online school they do have great social networking set up. There are several discussion forums and ways to communicate with fellow students.
Placement Services7They do not have job placement but have a website where employers can post openings. They have career services such as resume writing workshops.
Alumni Network7They have several job recommendations and tips for finding work. They also will provide reference letters for qualified positions.

Program ReputationI do not know what the current reputation is. I have been out since 1985.
Program Quality8It has been quite some time ago. The teachers are not the same. I was well taught and passed all the testing the first time.
Instruction10I had good teachers. I had a lot of opportunity to work with patrons.
How Difficult5My workload was average. I took most of my cosmetology instruction during high school.
Hands-On vs. BookishWhen I first started the program it was more book. Towards the end of my course it was more hands on.
Schedule Flexibility5When I was in, I took classes during high school. The college was somewhat flexible in letting me take classes during high school.
Academic Facilities10I was provided with everything I needed to get my degree. The teachers were very good at being accessible.
Social Life7I had a lot of opportunity to meet people who came in to let us practice on them. I was not involved in any other social experiences.
