Would Recommend?yesThey worked with me very well and helped me finish my degree.
Program Reputation5They have a neutral response. Some students do not finish and leave bad reviews.
Program Quality9I loved my school and they made the experience fun.
Instruction8For the most part, all of my instructors were really good at making sure we each were on the same level.
How Difficult5They were no harder than some of my friends' courses.
Hands-On vs. BookishLike most college courses, there was a lot of reading we had to do at home.
Schedule Flexibility10Many classes we could take online, which was good for those of us with children at home.
Academic Facilities5Pretty good library and computer resources, but could have used a bigger space. Sometimes it was very congested.
Social Life5I had a good time and met many great people.
Placement Services5They did not have anything in the small town that I was moving too, so I could not use their job placement services.
Alumni Network8I heard nothing but good things going in. However, I am hearing other things now that I have graduated.

"I enjoyed my instructors there. They where knowledgeable and made sure they were there to answer everyone's questions."

Would Recommend?yesI would recommend my program because it was quick. There are many places that provide this training, but none have the high exam pass rate that my school does. That speaks for itself.
Program Reputation7There are many entering in the health care field. And many choose the program I took because it's the fastest way to get your feet wet.
Program Quality9The program's instructors were top notch. When I took my state exams I was well prepared because of them.
Instruction10Like I said, the instructors were great.
How Difficult10It was pretty easy going. Everything except scrubs were provided.
Hands-On vs. BookishIn the beginning it was more geared towards book work to learn medical terminology. Towards the end, however, the class was very hands on and lab based.
Schedule Flexibility1It was horrible. If you miss a day then you fail the class.
Academic Facilities6There was little in the way of extra reading material. However, the labs were set up just like those I used during my state exams, and I found that helpful.
Social Life7Most of the people there were single parents or high school students. Therefore there wasn't a social program.
Placement Services1Again, there was no help after I finished the program.
Alumni Network1There was no post-completion help with employment placement. When I completed the program I was on my own.

"I was really happy with the school. They just made it a really fun and easy learning experience."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

Would Recommend?yesI would recommend it to everyone that is interested in any program the school offers.
Program Reputation9I think it's really good - the success rate is like 95%. Very few people failed.
Program Quality8I'm really satisfied with the program at the school. They had a whole setup for the CNA/HHA medical field and were very through.
Instruction8They were very informative and made sure you get the information and that you understand the assignments.
How Difficult3It was really easy. The teachers really explain everything and make everything really easy to understand.
Hands-On vs. BookishThey have an equal amount of both. You do labs twice a week and work from books twice a week.
Schedule Flexibility10I don't think they have online courses, but they have morning, afternoon, and evening classes and they are all really good.
Academic Facilities10They have all the machines and equipment needed for on the job training.
Social Life9There were only like 15 people in the class, so you get to know everyone and you make friends really quickly.
Placement Services8I think it;s just like every other school - they find you a job opening and you have to go do everything else to get the job.
Alumni Network10They are there to help you anytime you want. They are very good at making you feel helped and important.

Marion County Adult Education • Ocala, FL
Studying Home Health (completion in 1992)

"It helped me to advance in my career when I needed it. It helped me to change my career situation, from working in nursing homes with 10 people at a time to working in homes with only one person."

Would Recommend?yesThis school provided a small enough classroom that you were able to get more individual help. It also provided the tools for me to pass the HHA test and get my certificate.
Program ReputationI do not know; I have not been there since I graduated.
Program Quality10I went to Marion County Adult Education. It only took me 2 to 3 months to complete. They provided me with all the information I needed to become a HHA.
Instruction10The class sizes were small, so I was able to get individual attention. My teacher was very patient.
How Difficult4It was easy for me, because I was already a CNA when I took this class. It was a pretty short course.
Hands-On vs. BookishThe teacher was able to provide hands-on learning as well as book learning, because we had a smaller class.
Schedule Flexibility10I was able to attend school while I was working.
Academic Facilities3When I went there, they only had classrooms to go to and learn. They may have added other features since I went.
Social Life10Everyone was extremely supportive. I think that because we were all people who had jobs and were pursuing advancement, we understood each other's challenges, and that made us more supportive of each other.
Placement Services1There was no job placement at Marion County Adult Education for the HHA program. There may be for other programs.
Alumni NetworkIt is an adult education format. It is very rare that I would go back there for support.

Concorde Career Institute • Jacksonville, FL
Studying Patient Care Technician (completion in 2012)

2/27/2012

"For the most part, I had an enjoyable experience at Concorde. Student services were amazing when I hit a few bumps in the road and thought I would have to drop out. They went above and beyond for me."

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?maybeIt really depends on what they are looking for. I know of other programs that are shorter, cheaper, and easier. I would recommend Concorde to those that don't mind paying a little more for their education and getting a true hands on experience.
Program Reputation6Concorde's PCT program isn't very well known, so the reputation isn't great, but it's not bad either. The lack of student job placement is causing difficulty in keeping up with other programs.
Program Quality6I thought the program was good. It prepared us to know exactly what we were going to see in the work force. The hands on experience left no surprises and we were ready to start working right after testing with no problem.
Instruction7Our instructors cared about our individual needs as well as teaching us the curriculum. They taught us all of the relevant material we were going to need to know and made sure we understood it all.
How Difficult5For me, the program wasn't too hard. It was fast paced so I could see it might pose a problem for some people. The workload was moderate, but this varied at times.
Hands-On vs. BookishConcorde was a true mix program. Half of our class every class was spent in the classroom using a book, and the other half was in the lab doing hands on work.
Schedule Flexibility3Only two class options are available: morning and afternoon. Once you choose your classes, you are kind of stuck with them because of the rotation layout. No online options are available.
Academic Facilities8Class sizes are great at Concorde. It kept an overall clean facility, and the life like mannequins were a great help with our hands on experience.
Social Life4As classmates, we bonded more on our own outside of school than we did inside school. Activities were rare at Concorde. Jeans days and pop corn days were pretty much the only activities held.
Placement Services4The career services will help with resume creation, and provide a place for looking online for jobs. Career services doesn't really help you look for a job, assist with interviews, or offer any other job seeking tools.
Alumni Network3The alumni network isn't very well kept up. Once you graduate, that's pretty much the end of your Concorde experience.
