"I would rate my satisfaction with my school as average. It got me through and allowed me to become certified."

Would Recommend?maybeI would recommend this field only to those that have aspirations to move up in healthcare by becoming a Nurse, Physical Therapist, or Physician. It is a great job to get you exposed to hands on patient care, but not a job to make a lifetime career. I have spent years in this field while earning my Nursing degree. I graduated in May of 2011, and I am very happy about the prospect of moving on from the job of a Home Health Aide, but I do credit it for giving me the desire to further my education.
Program Reputation5At the time I attended, my school was regarded as having a good program to attend. It was not the best, but it would get the job done.
Program Quality5I think my school gave me the minimum required to be able to perform my job. But I do believe that my training could have been more thorough.
Instruction5The type of instruction that I received was having the instructor read out of the book as the lecture. I think that the class could have been more interactive.
How Difficult3The training for the field was relatively easy. The only challenge was having to be in class for 8 hours per day.
Hands-On vs. BookishMy program gave us over 100 hours of book theory. It provided about 40 hours of hands on clinical experience.
Schedule Flexibility1My school schedule was a very rigid 8 hours per day for 4 weeks. There were no evening options or online options available.
Academic Facilities2My school has only two small classrooms and an office. There were only six employees: thee administrators, the director, the theory instructor, and the clinical instructor. There was no other support available.
Social Life1There was no social network of students or activities. I really experienced no socialization with students outside of class hours.
Placement Services1My school provided no job placement assistance. With that said, I was easily hired at the facility where my school held its clinical instruction.
Alumni Network1My school did not provide an alumni support or network. The school has since closed down.

"I give this an average rating because, once again, the task of giving me a usable degree was completed. I didn't particularly enjoy going to school here, and that is why the rating will not be any higher than very slightly average."

Would Recommend?maybeI would recommend it to someone who is simply looking for a degree. I would not, however, recommend it to someone who wants an enjoyable college experience.
Program Reputation5No one ever specifically seeks out Baton Rouge CC for a nursing degree. However, it is fine for someone who lives in the area and is simply looking to get some sort of degree.
Program Quality5My school got the job done, which was to give me a degree. As for what I actually learned, I felt that the professors were not engaging in any way. I also didn't feel like I was "part of something." It felt as though I went straight from high school to a very dull life--completely skipping the "fun" of college.
Instruction5Some professors ended class after an hour, instead of after two hours (which was the length of the class when I initially signed up). I also did not enjoy my classes, nor did I find my professors enjoyable.
How Difficult5I found my classes to be difficult, only because I did not put much time into them. Other than that, I found them to be fairly manageable.
Hands-On vs. BookishEverything that we did was based on the book. We rarely strayed far from it.
Schedule Flexibility10I was able to make my schedule exactly how I wanted to. I was also able to create my schedule so that I had no classes on friday. Although I didn't take any of them, I know that Baton Rouge CC does offer online and summer classes.
Academic Facilities6The facilities were fine. They had everything that I needed, but nothing extravagant. I can't imagine someone pursuing an engineering degree, to find the facilities adequate.
Social Life1I had a part time job while going to school, so I didn't socialize much. Even then, there weren't many chances to socialize. Everyone who went there was simply looking for a degree, not friends.
Placement Services5I didn't really receive any help in landing my job. I didn't even bother getting help from my school.
Alumni Network1I have no connections to any alumni. I don't even think Baton Rouge Community College even has an alumni program.

"The cost of the education was not equivalent to the education. Back then they didn't know how to prepare you."

Would Recommend?noIt has since closed. If it were open today I would tell everyone to stay away.
Program Reputation1Poor academics and poor reviews caused the school to get closed. Every student I ever spoke with shared the same negative opinion.
Program Quality4Very misleading and unaware of what experiences are really needed in the field. Don't give much hands on work.
Instruction4Text book and hands on learning are so different. Hands on is needed for this field. Therefore this program can't prepare you for the real work world.
How Difficult3I thought is was rather easy, because most of the time the work wasn't pertaining to the program.
Hands-On vs. Bookish90% was book learning. The only hands on work was in labs and in learning vital signs.
Schedule Flexibility4Not very considerate to the working class. No way to make up any work, and classes were scheduled during work hours.
Academic Facilities3Many years ago, the only things offered were text books.
Social Life2Not much school spirit. The instructors were eager to end the day.
Placement Services1Never assisted me in finding a job. Could only offer volunteer work to gain experience.
Alumni Network2They made promises to assist me with job placement but never followed through. I found myself volunteering to get experience.

Would Recommend?yesI would recommend others to attend my school pursuing my career. I had a great network of instructors.
Program Reputation9My school's current reputation for the program is good. Many people attended this community college for health related careers.
Program Quality9I am satisfied with my school's program. It was a great experience.
Instruction10The quality of instruction was extremely good. In my opinion, I had the best teachers.
How Difficult6Just like anything worth having, you must put time in your education. I do not think it was more difficult than anything else in school.
Hands-On vs. BookishMy school had a good program. It was a mix of both although we had a lot of hands on training.
Schedule Flexibility8My school's class schedule flexibility was very good. We had many options of when we wanted to take our classes.
Academic Facilities10My school's academic facilities and resources as they pertain to the program was very good. We had our own building, computer lab, and resource center.
Social Life4My social experience at school was below average. I am not into all the extras, so that is why my experience was below average.
Placement Services10My school's job placement and career services assistance was great. They made sure that I was place in a job before I graduated.
Alumni Network10My school's alumni network was good. I was offered a lot of support.
