Studying HVAC/R (completion in 2010)

"Overall, there are better schools to spend your money on. The staff is rude, it costs too much, teachers are not that good, and students are rude and are not there to learn."

Would Recommend?noNo way would I recommend ATI's HVAC/R school to anyone considering HVAC/R as career. I would rather have gone to a different school, especially in a place that's not a hundred degrees during the day.
Program Reputation2Their reputation is bad due to the fact that a lot of the kids that go there are thugs who aren't there to learn. They just want to get certified and get a job and scam their way to a pay check every week.
Program Quality5The school could upgrade and have better equipment and learning tools, cleaner classrooms. and better rules for students to follow.
Instruction3I didn't learn that much really, I just learned more about how to scam the customer into buying an entire new unit instead of actually fixing it.
How Difficult10Really hard. Each class is 6 weeks long, you will fail if you miss one day at all, and you have to remember over 200 symbols in 2 weeks or fail the electrical part of the program.
Hands-On vs. BookishHours of note taking. Only after you take lots and lots of notes do you actually get to the hands on training.
Schedule Flexibility5There are day classes which are really hot and no have no a/c, which is ironic considering it's an HVAC/R school. There are also afternoon classes and night classes.
Academic Facilities1There are a few computers to use for the final test before you get certified, Restrooms are really dirty. No library, and they charge $200 for a book that you don't and falls apart. Little class space.
Social Life2You show up, take a bunch of notes, rush through topics. That's it.
Placement Services5They say they can get you a job as soon as you graduate, but if companies are not hiring you are not gonna get a job, simple as that.
Alumni Network4There is a good staff that is very supportive, but the alumni network itself is horrible.
Review your current or past school and help others make better career decisions.
