"I didn't really enjoy law school. But given the options, I think I went to a good school."

Would Recommend?maybeI didn't have much fun in law school and the job market is not good. I would be hesitant to recommend law school for anyone.
Program Reputation8It has a good reputation, especially for environmental law.
Program Quality7The school had a great environmental law program. I enjoyed my classmates and the facilities.
Instruction6I learned a good deal but I am not sure how useful it will be for a career. Some professors were very good and others just talked about whatever they wanted to talk about that day.
How Difficult6It was moderately challenging. I was able to maintain a social life while in school, which was helpful.
Hands-On vs. BookishIt was mostly book oriented, but we also could do externships. I did one externship and learned a lot.
Schedule Flexibility5Classes were during the day. There was not too much flexibility, but it was nice not to have class on Fridays.
Academic Facilities10The library was fantastic. Also, the classrooms and the cafe were great.
Social Life7We had some good parties. We also formed a frisbee team.
Placement Services5I haven't found a good job in my field. I do appreciate the effort they put in to create fellowships.
Alumni Network5I haven't gotten any results out of the alumni network. But I am hopeful for the future.

University Of Denver • Denver, CO
Studying Law (completion in 2002)

"I think that DU has a better reputation than it should. I think that it costs too much money and could do more to show that it cares about how much the students are learning."

Would Recommend?maybeIf the student is in Colorado and has not been accepted at the University of Colorado, then DU is a good choice. However, if they are wanting to pay less tuition, then I would suggest going to the University of Wyoming.
Program Reputation10There are only two law schools in Colorado. DU is regarded as a very good program, maybe even better than the other school.
Program Quality5The University of Denver is considered a good law school in the area. However, I attended a different school for my first year and I saw how a law school can be when they actually care about their students. The University of Denver is very concerned about their prestige in the community and less concerned about their students actually learning what they need to practice law.
Instruction3The University of Denver has a lot of adjunct professors. The University says it's a way to bring in real-life professionals who can help the students learn in a more practical way. My opinion, however, is that the adjunct professors are just a way for the University to save money on benefits and they are not as invested in the students' learning.
How Difficult9Law school got a bit easier after the first year. However, the pressure and the workload is strenuous throughout.
Hands-On vs. BookishDU is supposedly known for its internship program. However, from what I recall, zero internships are required. Since I was tired of sitting in class, I did as many internships as I could.
Schedule Flexibility5Due to the high number of adjunct professors, many of the courses are only available at night. Given that this is a graduate school, most students do not live on campus, making returning in the evenings tough.
Academic Facilities8The DU law school is a brand new facility with state-of-the-art technology for students. Although I never utilized tutors, there were not upper division students available to help like there were at my first school.
Social Life2I lived off campus, so after classes were done I would go home. Plus, since this was law school, there wasn't a lot of opportunity or time for social activities.
Placement Services5From what I can tell, there is little help for alumni who have graduated years ago and are now looking for employment. I didn't really utilize this office when I attended school there.
Alumni Network7There are a lot of practicing attorneys in the area that went to DU. I frequently get emails about programs to interact with other alumni.
