Would Recommend?yesI think other people would have a great time at Ole Miss and enjoy the same experiences I did. It was a wonderful time and has provided countless people with the education necessary to be successful in their fields.
Program Reputation6My law school is not a highly accredited school nationally, but it is a well-known school and people tend to respect it when I tell them where I went. It does not have the notoriety of some bigger-known schools, but the reputation is getting better.
Program Quality6I think law school and a career in law are two different animals. Law school does not prepare you for the practice of law, but does provide the groundwork for it. I had a very good program at law school, but its application to the real world did not apply.
Instruction6I learned the necessary basics of law, but I did not learn the practice and everything else that went along with it. A better description of what the career entailed would have been helpful.
How Difficult8Long hours and extreme amounts of study time were necessary to successfully complete law school. The courses were challenging and the competition was fairly intense between students. The bar exam was a whole other thing.
Hands-On vs. BookishMy professors were very good at helping you out and going out of their way to interact with different students. They were willing to go the extra mile to help someone out. The classes were definitely book learning, but the professors did a nice job of applying that to different scenarios.
Schedule Flexibility6I found I could take all the classes I desired, and they were all well spaced, so I could have time between them and could make my schedule as I desired.
Academic Facilities5The school I went to was very average. They actually built a new law school within the past three years, which I did not get to use. The library was very nice, but not as nice as some other law schools I have seen.
Social Life7The extracurricular activities at the school were phenomenal. I enjoyed my time, did many different things and gained valuable life experience while I was there.
Placement Services7If you wanted to practice in Mississippi, my school was great, but they lacked in placing students out of state, such as myself. They did their best, though, and they did help me to find a clerk job and first job out of school.
Alumni Network6I live away from my law school, so I do not get to participate in a lot of alumni things. However, I do network with some old classmates and friends, and my school did provide help through their career services office to find a job after law school.
