Would Recommend?yesI believe that nursing is a wise career field choice as nurses are always needed. Central Community College is more affordable than a four year university and you can get the same skills.
Program Reputation7The program itself is good and has a high pass rate. There is a waiting list for clinicals though, and that is annoying to many people.
Program Quality9We learned much in nursing school and had the opportunity to get hands on experience. Our instructors were very knowledgeable.
Instruction8Our instructors pushed us to learn and though at times it was nerve wracking, it prepared us to be actual nurses. I believe that it taught me how to work under pressure and be self reliant, a valuable skill as a home health aide.
How Difficult8The work can be physically demanding and you must be able to lift/assist lift others. I also believe that it takes a certain personality to work in a home care setting; you must be self reliant and compassionate.
Hands-On vs. BookishWhile we did take many quizzes and tests, most of the work was hands on. Our instructors did make the effort to work with those of us who had a preference of hands on over book learning.
Schedule Flexibility5When it comes to classes themselves, the school was understanding if you had to miss one. Additionally, you could choose to take the classes in the evenings or mornings. When it comes to clinicals, however, it was inflexible and you had to be available at the times provided.
Academic Facilities4There was a small library with books and things to look at if you forgot your own materials, but you couldn't check them out. The computer lab was quite useful, though.
Social Life8I had many good friends in college that I still talk to today. I feel nursing is a field where people bond together as they can relate to one another.
Placement Services5Prior to graduation, we went to a career fair. After graduation, I did get contacted by a few of the people I had spoken with at the career fair, however many were not in the city in which I was looking for employment.
Alumni Network5I occasionally get letters from my school. I do wish that I would have gotten more information about financial aid.
