"I earned my LPN certificate in just a year's time. This enabled me to start earning money for my family as a nurse in a short period of time."

Would Recommend?yesFor people who want a stable job in the health field, Crest Haven Vo-Tech provides a good basic program. Students come out knowing their stuff without having to invest a large chunk of time.
Program Reputation6It is the only affordable LPN licensing school in our area. However, they have limited seats and turn away many applicants on a yearly basis.
Program Quality8The school provided me with an excellent education. I was able to blend in well with established staff upon graduation.
Instruction8Instructors were well-versed and knowledgeable. I was well prepared to enter the work force and felt confident about my skills.
How Difficult6I graduated in the pre-computer days, so all school work was handwritten and tedious. The workload was heavy at times, especially because I had to work to support a family while attending school.
Hands-On vs. BookishEarly on in our year of study, we had clinicals. We had a variety of facilities to choose from, including geriatric, hospital, and psych settings.
Schedule Flexibility1They only provide one program with set hours. Students go daily 8 to 5, making it difficult to work and go to school at the same time.
Academic Facilities3The facility at the time of my graduation had no library, computers, advisors, tutors or anything else. It was strictly business. Qualified staff gave us a well-rounded education with no frills.
Social Life1As a vocational school, it was strictly a commuter school. There were no organized social events at all.
Placement Services1Like I said, they have no job placement program. It is up to the graduate to get leads and find a job in the field.
Alumni Network2There is no alumni network or support to speak of. Whatever job leads were given were provided by classmates.

"I loved my teachers, the curriculum and clinical experience. I would not trade it for the world. I disliked how the program is run, and the price for the program is double most others."

Would Recommend?noI know many other schools around that have better reputations than mine. Most other programs also have bridge programs and ours does not.
Program Reputation6I haven't heard anything great about them nor anything that negative since graduating. I believe they have a higher rating for their medical assisting classes.
Program Quality4The chair of our department never had time for us, she barely knew our names and she expected us to exceed any of the nearby schools. She also raised our testing standards for our exit exam above the state levels to make sure she had a better outcome on the NCLEX.
Instruction8With the exception of our department chair, our teachers cared and helped us through all of our studies. Some even held study sessions in their homes and after school. They really cared about our grades and our learning.
How Difficult8It was very hard but with help and determination most of us were able to pass relatively easy. Clinicals were the best part as hands-on teaches you more.
Hands-On vs. BookishThe book part was hard and seemed crammed in a certain amount of time. I loved the clinicals; they got us in some of the best hospitals and we got to go into the ER on some occasions.
Schedule Flexibility2They are not flexible at all, even when it came to make ups if you miss two classes for any reason in a semester you failed that class no matter what. The teachers try to form a way around this for us if we have severe problems and as long as we make up our work they will not report it as a day missed.
Academic Facilities5It would be below average if not for the teaching staff who would go to any lengths to help us out. As for the school itself they have a small library with four computers and if you don't bring a laptop you will wait all day because the there are way too many students for the resources.
Social Life8I met some great people there and we're all still in touch. Apart from my degree, these relationships are best thing I got from there. The teachers also are still involved in our lives if we need guidance.
Placement Services8We received help at the end of our term with resumes and interviewing skills. However, after graduating it is quite hard to keep in contact with the school since they are so busy with the new classes.
Alumni Network6There were times we felt like we were on our own and that the basic people who should have been there were not. Most of the time we had what we needed taken care of in a timely manner but they could be a bit more organized.
