Would Recommend?noI would tell people who are pursuing a health career to go further than an HHA or CNA, and perhaps to diversify and get trained in medical billing or records as well.
Program Reputation10Very exclusive at the interpreting program level.
Program Quality8Small class sizes, great instructors. All of the deaf studies faculty are actually deaf.
Instruction8All of the deaf studies faculty are deaf and that lends authenticity and a great wealth of experience and knowledge to the program. However, there is a lot of favoritism within the program.
How Difficult3Show up on time and do what is expected of you and you will do well. If your attitude is good and you apply yourself, everything else is reasonable.
Hands-On vs. BookishAll deaf studies, ASL, and interpreting classes involve immersion. It is required to meet with deaf people outside of the classroom as well.
Schedule Flexibility10Weekend, night, day, summer, etc. Has it all. Even Sunday courses.
Academic Facilities7Labs could really be improved. So could the physical fitness areas if you ask me. However, libraries, media, support, and professors are all top notch.
Social Life7Not too many ways to get involved. Not many extra curricular activities or clubs, but the student body is diverse and I found it extremely easy to make friends there.
Placement Services3Like I said, I'm not really sure what services are even available.
Alumni Network2Not sure of what support is even available. Limited career advising.
