"I feel like I had a great experience. Great teachers, great classmates, great flexibility of schedule. And it was cheap."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | no | I would tell people who are pursuing a health career to go further than an HHA or CNA, and perhaps to diversify and get trained in medical billing or records as well. |
| Program Reputation | 10 | Very exclusive at the interpreting program level. |
| Program Quality | 8 | Small class sizes, great instructors. All of the deaf studies faculty are actually deaf. |
| Instruction | 8 | All of the deaf studies faculty are deaf and that lends authenticity and a great wealth of experience and knowledge to the program. However, there is a lot of favoritism within the program. |
| How Difficult | 3 | Show up on time and do what is expected of you and you will do well. If your attitude is good and you apply yourself, everything else is reasonable. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | All deaf studies, ASL, and interpreting classes involve immersion. It is required to meet with deaf people outside of the classroom as well. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 10 | Weekend, night, day, summer, etc. Has it all. Even Sunday courses. |
| Academic Facilities | 7 | Labs could really be improved. So could the physical fitness areas if you ask me. However, libraries, media, support, and professors are all top notch. |
| Social Life | 7 | Not too many ways to get involved. Not many extra curricular activities or clubs, but the student body is diverse and I found it extremely easy to make friends there. |
| Placement Services | 3 | Like I said, I'm not really sure what services are even available. |
| Alumni Network | 2 | Not sure of what support is even available. Limited career advising. |
