| Would Recommend? | yes | UCONN has grown into a powerhouse college basketball program. And they have used their new found fame to really enhance the school and its academic departments. |
| Program Reputation | 10 | UCONN has not only grown in popularity due to its sports program championships. It has also grown because of their excellent academic programs. |
| Program Quality | 8 | It taught me all the knowledge on how to be able to sell your products to anybody and how to blend the right amount of advertisements with an easy to understand message. |
| Instruction | 8 | The teachers taught the classes in a way that allowed me to show off my skills. They required a lot of presentations which gave my communications skills the chance to grow. |
| How Difficult | 3 | It was easy to be able to get all B's and A's in my marketing classes. it was in English and math where I struggled. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | My marketing and core classes were more hands on learning. But my other elective courses were book learning. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 8 | They offered their classes on two separate campuses. This allowed me to commute during some summer and inter session classes. |
| Academic Facilities | 10 | They are state of the art and look beautiful. They have taken all of their college basketball money and put it to good use on the campus. |
| Social Life | 8 | The parties were amazing at UCONN. It was also located in a very nice, quiet community. |
| Placement Services | 7 | I was able to get a job right out of college in my field. This was due to the UCONN name and reputation. |
| Alumni Network | 5 | I live far away so I'm too far to go to any of their functions. But I do get all of their newsletters in the mail. |

"Very impressive experience. I've recommended the university to many people and hope my kids will consider going."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | yes | Absolutely! The experience and availability of classes is perfect for going into a creative business environment. |
| Program Reputation | 7 | The liberal arts program is the strongest in the state and has become increasingly popular with out of state residents. For a large university, the options are tremendous. |
| Program Quality | 7 | Was not my major, however the work load & personal skills I developed helped me adapt. I had to balance multiple things at once - school work, tennis schedule, and of course a social life. |
| Instruction | 8 | Very good professors, very collaborative. They were always willing to work with me as an individual. |
| How Difficult | 7 | I had a good balance between work, athletics, & social life. Academics were challenging, even more given my demanding tennis schedule. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | Very good balance. I took advantage of the added level of athletic support. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 8 | Very flexible for athletes. Classes were available morning, noon and night, allowing me to choose options around my athletic schedule each semester. |
| Academic Facilities | 8 | Being a student athlete, we had additional resources for academic support. We had advisors, computer access, & mandatory study hall |
| Social Life | 10 | I had the time of my life! I learned a lot & grew as a person. |
| Placement Services | 7 | Very little available to alumni. I received no help from the alumni network & have never been asked to help more recent graduates. |
| Alumni Network | 4 | It's very poor, even in a social media world. There is constant requests for alumni contributions, however very little is done in return. |

Studying Applied Arts/Studio Art (I Also Have A Prior AS In Marketing) (completion in 2005)

"I had an associate's degree and a full-time job -- and multiple credits that I legitimately earned from other schools. I had the knowledge and had done the work for a degree. If not for Charter Oak, I would not have it."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | yes | My profession is for mature people. It's not an entry-level job. So, if you are a nontraditional student, this may work for you. |
| Program Reputation | 10 | Charter Oak is one of the only independent accredited programs in the state of CT. We have several notable alumni - among them, Al Terzi of CT's WFSB news. |
| Program Quality | 10 | Charter Oak is a school that caters to adult learners. They will take credits from prior schools and accept online learning for credits. Since I had multiple credits from other schools, this was a huge plus. |
| Instruction | 10 | Charter Oak's advisors are top-notch. If you have credits you earned years ago or credits from multiple schools, they are very competent at working with you to mesh those into a legitimate degree program. |
| How Difficult | 9 | I worked with an advisor to design my program. Some of it was testing out - which still required preparation. I also earned approval to take online/independent study classes at colleges like Yale and Brigham Young. People have a misconception that just because a course is online, it is easy. I still had to submit papers and communicate with instructors -- it was every bit as hard as in-person classes. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | Charter Oak takes credits from other institutions. While they give credit for life experience, distance learning (book study) plays a huge role. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 10 | Most classes that are required can be taken online. The advisor to whom I was assigned answered my calls and e-mails promptly. |
| Academic Facilities | I was primarily a distance learner/online student. I did not take any classes on-site, aside from exams. | |
| Social Life | My school is a distance learning institution. While they do have social and fundraising events, I did not attend any of them, as I was employed full time. | |
| Placement Services | I never used their career services. When I was earning my degree, I studied while I was employed full time. | |
| Alumni Network | I have not had a need to use the network at this point. |
