"I liked the convenience of being able to work and go to school without being too overwhelmed. As far as the social experience, I could have been involved much more."

| Would Recommend? | yes | It's a really good school to learn at. The professors are great, and whenever you need help, they are there for you. |
| Program Reputation | 8 | The major seems to be up-and-coming, but it hasn't reached its potential yet. Once students realize how much they can do in this area, I think it will really pick up. |
| Program Quality | 8 | The retail part of my degree was very well covered. The marketing part, however, could have used more education. Marketing didn't really focus on what I do every day. |
| Instruction | 9 | The professors I had were great. They really knew what they were talking about and made me excited to learn. |
| How Difficult | 8 | It may have been difficult for others, but to me, it came easy. Making things exciting to learn makes them less difficult. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | Most classes were very hands-on, with role-plays, outside homework, etc. I think it makes it much easier to learn with hands-on experience, so that made it easier for me. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 7 | Night classes were offered, which was great. Some classes were only offered in a particular semester, which made it difficult to take classes and work full time. |
| Academic Facilities | 7 | The facilities were great at the school, making it very convenient to get work done when needed. I did, however, have problems with the advisor when it came to graduation. |
| Social Life | 3 | I basically went to class and left. I didn't make one friend the few years I attended the school. |
| Placement Services | 7 | I didn't get any assistance in job placement. I didn't need the help, but there wasn't much available anyway. |
| Alumni Network | 3 | I graduated in 2010 and have yet to receive one thing on the alumni network. I most likely will not get anything, since I have not yet. |

"The school was a solid investment, but you couple the average course offerings and the name recognition, I would rank it a six. Cost was definitely a determining factor when choosing a school, and I do feel like I got what I paid for."

| Would Recommend? | maybe | If someone was looking for an affordable school to pursue post graduate work, I would recommend that they look into Capital. But if they were looking to make a name for themselves through an MBA program, I'd recommend Ohio State University. |
| Program Reputation | 7 | Capital University has a good reputation in the Columbus area. However, outside of Columbus, the school has little recognition. |
| Program Quality | 7 | The program was an intense 18 month program that provided a solid education, but some of the classes were not well organized and didn't flow with the rest of the degree. I felt like some of the classes were a waste of time - empty credit hours. |
| Instruction | 7 | The marketing instructors were great. They provided real world instruction and offered the opportunity to work with several real businesses who had unique marketing problems. The classes consulted with the business stakeholder to evaluate the problem and provide solutions. |
| How Difficult | 5 | The program classes were not terribly difficult. I was a 3.3 student in undergrad and graduated with a 3.8 for my MBA degree. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | With several of the classes bringing in real world business leaders, the program was very hands on. We worked as teams on a number of different projects that were geared to help us apply principles and provide businesses with free marketing help. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 5 | Most of the classes were set as far as flexibility was concerned. There were a few that met on weekends, but most of them were evening classes that met twice a week. |
| Academic Facilities | 7 | The school had a good computer network and an extensive library. The student services offered many benefits, but I did not use them. I spent a good deal of time in the library and business labs on team projects and other collaborations. |
| Social Life | 5 | I did not participate in any extra-curricular activities. I went to evening classes and then went home. Working a full time job while I went to school made it difficult to experience any athletics, parties or social events. |
| Placement Services | 3 | The career services was a job posting board. There was little support from the school. However, there was a good network of jobs that was fostered by the students in their current companies. |
| Alumni Network | 3 | I have not kept contact with the alumni network. I do receive correspondence from the school asking for donations to the program. I have kept in touch with some of the students through facebook. |
Muskingum University • New Concord, OH
Studying Business (completion in 2007)

"They provided me with an education and I was able to find a job right away. I also met really good people while attending who I still remain in contact with."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | yes | Muskingum is a quality school for business and marketing. They provided me with skills to excel in the business and marketing world. |
| Program Reputation | 6 | Muskingum University is more known for its education program. The business school is known as well, but not as well as the education program. |
| Program Quality | 7 | Muskingum offered classes that were directly related to marketing and advertising. Even though I have a business degree and not one in marketing, I am able to perform well at marketing. |
| Instruction | 8 | Muskingum is a small liberal arts school. The classes are small and student focused. My marketing teacher was also in the business world before he was a teacher, so he brought real life experience. |
| How Difficult | 9 | Muskingum University is a great school. My professors were graduates of very well known universities and were very intelligent and expected the same from their students. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | Muskingum was more book learning while I attended. We had a few projects that were hands on, but it was mostly book learning. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 10 | Muskingum has very flexible classes. They offer summer programs and night classes. They have classes geared towards adults who want to get their degrees as well. |
| Academic Facilities | 7 | Muskingum is an old university. However, while I was attending, they built a new communications building. Soon after I graduated they built a new student center as well. |
| Social Life | 7 | Muskingum is a small school that does not excel at sports. School spirit was still high, and parties were fun because you knew everyone. |
| Placement Services | 9 | I was able to get an internship at the school job fair while in school. This internship turned into a full time position when I graduated. |
| Alumni Network | I have never been contacted by the alumni services. I do not know any of the people that I have graduated that have been contacted either. |
Kent State University • Kent, OH
Studying Marketing (completion in 2004)

"I enjoyed my major and my classes. I really learned a lot that's helped me get to where I am today. I never thought I'd be a manager at 30 years old, so I am extremely happy!"
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | yes | Kent offers a good variety of majors/classes, as well as a great social environment. You can really thrive there and get a lot out of the experience. |
| Program Reputation | 8 | Overall, Kent's business school is considered very good. It's consistently rated in the top 300 schools nationwide. |
| Program Quality | 8 | Kent offered a good program for marketing. I took classes related to all aspects, such as marketing research, international marketing, marketing strategies, retail marketing and several others. It gave me a well-rounded background and helped me to be prepared for a job in my field. |
| Instruction | 8 | I learned a lot about the 4 Ps, research and strategies in my classes. We were given case studies in many of the courses, which really helped me to begin thinking as a marketer and apply what I'd learned. |
| How Difficult | 7 | Some classes were harder than others, but overall, the challenge and workload were fair. I do think some of the case studies should have been individual vs. always working in teams. The variety of both would've been helpful in learning even more. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | The more hands-on classes were the research, strategy and advertising ones. We also had case studies, lots of group work, and fun projects like creating your own advertising materials. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 8 | Classes were offered either M/W/F or T/TH, as well as Saturdays. I never took any of the Saturday or evening classes, but I was happy with the several choices available during the week/daytime. |
| Academic Facilities | 6 | Some professors were more available than others, but I think you'll probably find that anywhere. We did have several computer labs in the business building, though they'd be filled to capacity at peak times of the day. Classroom space was very good - never a problem there. I wasn't aware of/didn't have a need for any tutors or study groups when I attended. |
| Social Life | 9 | Even though a lot of students went home on the weekends ("suitcase school"), there were always activities going on all over campus and nearby. We had a great basketball team, so there was no shortage of school spirit there. |
| Placement Services | 3 | There really wasn't much in the way of job placement and career services assistance, short of scheduling meetings with your school's dean for advice. Advisors mostly helped you choose your courses--nothing more. It really was 100% up to me to go out and find my first job. It would've been helpful to know starting out that a lot of "entry-level marketing" jobs posted are actually more sales. |
| Alumni Network | 5 | It's been ok. The job search resources haven't been very helpful in the past, and there aren't many networking events in my area. |
