"All in all, its a great school. The GPA to get in now I believe is around a 3.7 which says a lot about the college itself and its students. I see great things for the college in the near future. Helped me pursue and achieve a degree that I had always wanted and loved."

Would Recommend?yesYes! The program I was in is old news now. More teachers, more sections, more academic advisers, and more everything is available now to students who want to purse what I studied. If you're scared of college, or think its to much of an overload, you're not alone, and there are people trained to help.
Program Reputation8I would say it's still getting better. It's an excellent program, yet I've heard is getting better, more sections of classes, more teachers, and more students pursing my major.
Program Quality9My college was an excellent school for what I was studying. Excellent academic advisers, laid out program of what classes I need to take and when. And finally the overall quality of the classes was superb.
Instruction10As I mentioned above the classes were only quality. Every teacher I had was so knowledgeable, approachable, and willing to help if you any questions or concerns regarding class criteria or grades.
How Difficult7My senior year was pretty difficult. I had to retake like two classes because I hadn't done so well in them my freshman year. Overall, projects were a little hectic but other than that, workload wasn't to bad. Just studying mainly.
Hands-On vs. BookishBecause of the large student population, this meant for the most part large classrooms. So hands on assistance was more in your hands. If you took the initiative to talk to a teacher, you received hands on assistance. If not, it was all up to you reading your books.
Schedule Flexibility8Classes were offered in multiple sections on mostly each day in addition to being in the summer. There were 3 separate summer sessions a student had an option of taking which was great, just in case you had a vacation of some sort early or late in the summer. But as I said it's getting better.
Academic Facilities10George Mason is a huge school. Plenty of new and upcoming buildings. Places for students to study, more gyms, more parking. A great school preparing for an influx of students in the future.
Social Life10I was always a very social person. A lot of my childhood friends and group friends went to George Mason with me. So I never had an issue with finding people to study with, play extracurricular activities, or just hangout with at school.
Placement Services6This was a little difficult at my school. I visited a few times, to see if they could help me at all find a job as soon as I graduated. Was pretty tough, and I had to do some of my own research in order to have more variety of jobs that were open to me and my field.
Alumni Network10The network and school alumni was awesome. Really made as feel accomplished, happy, and successful.

"It was convenient and good for what I needed. I would not be anxious to tell people where I got my degree from."

Would Recommend?yesGMU is meant for career-minded students. Classes are convenient for people who work.
Program Reputation5The diverse nature of the program keeps it from being noteworthy in English. Not specializing in an area of writing, editing, or literature is an issue for rankings.
Program Quality5The English M.A. program at GMU is too fragmented for their training. Within the same program, there are courses on literature, professional writing and editing, computer communication, and publishing. They do not offer enough courses to concentrate in any of those areas.
Instruction8Each professor was an expert in his/her area. They knew how to make the information relevant to the professional world.
How Difficult7The reading and writing was average for a graduate program. The HTML editing required for my area was difficult, because students had to go from zero to expert in a semester while creating excellent content.
Hands-On vs. BookishGMU excels in programs that are practical. The graduate English program is great for those who plan to use their education for a commercial career, rather than academia.
Schedule Flexibility10GMU is historically a school for nontraditional and commuter students. Many work, so GMU offers graduate classes in the evenings, weekends, and summers.
Academic Facilities10GMU is very up to date and well funded. The libraries are comprehensive, accessible, and welcoming. Media access and services are superior; there are free training classes and workshops. Professors, advisors, study groups, etc., are an afterthought, but GMU is a top-notch, self-service institution for motivated students.
Social Life1GMU is mostly a commuter school. The basketball team is its only claim to fame, spirit-wise.
Placement ServicesI was already employed and did not use these services. The services do exist at GMU.
Alumni Network5We receive a magazine and solicitations for gifts and funding. The alumni at GMU do not tend to have a connection to the school, because it was historically a commuter school (prior to 2008).
