"I was able to start a small practice of my own. It was harder than I realized and the economy really did a lot of damage to our industry."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | maybe | I would tell them that they will not make very much money and that they will have to work very hard for every client that they get. It is not a job for the faint hearted. |
| Program Reputation | They were bought out by a business school which has its own processes. I don't think they follow the same curriculum. | |
| Program Quality | 2 | The school was interested in making money, not in providing us opportunities to work. They were very aware that graduates would not find gainful employment yet they continued to crank us out. |
| Instruction | 10 | Our teachers were very knowledgeable and had years of experience. Experience is key in this field because it is a hands on skill, not something that book knowledge will help with very much. |
| How Difficult | 10 | The only massage therapists that I meet that have the level of medical knowledge that I have, have all gone to the same place. Other graduates from different schools are very clueless about the processes that we learned. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | We did get an excellent education. Way above those who went to other schools, but of course we paid for it too! Our instructors spent many years in the massage business. Two of our teachers had 20 plus years experience doing massage and the others had at least 5 years. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 5 | They had set hours in the day and night. You could pick up a class at night if you missed a class in the day, but the classes did not move along together. |
| Academic Facilities | 7 | They were very important in Delaware, as they wrote the rules for massage in that state. This brought a lot of people and resources into the school. |
| Social Life | 10 | I enjoyed the people at the school. The school had a good reputation in the community so we got to know people that way as well. |
| Placement Services | 1 | There was no job placement help. You were expected to find your own job. |
| Alumni Network | 2 | Everyone that I knew at the school is no longer involved in the business of massage. Some have gone on to nursing, some back to past work experience. The school is no longer there. They were sold to a conglomerate. |
