CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?yesFor anyone contemplating massage as a career, I would highly recommend Cortiva. However, I would caution them about realistic expectations regarding earnings.
Program Reputation10Cortiva is well known in the state. It also has very loyal alumni who often return for reduced rate massages.
Program Quality10The school has an excellent reputation and has expanded to King of Prussia, PA. The faculty and students were extremely helpful.
Instruction10The faculty always had time to answer any questions. They also brought years of life/career experience 'to the table.'
How Difficult8Most course work was challenging, but not overly difficult. However, anatomy was a challenge.
Hands-On vs. BookishThe program was a mix of hands on and book learning. All classes were 'hands on' and incorporated actual massage.
Schedule Flexibility9I attended a 1 year program. The school does offer an accelerated 6 month program.
Academic Facilities8The school did have library materials and related articles. Much of the content was also available online. However, all classes did have required textbooks.
Social Life10There was a formal graduation ceremony. Many of the classmates I attended with remain in contact.
Placement Services5As mentioned in a prior question, this could be improved. However, this is also a reflection on the economy in general. An emphasis on the business side of massage therapy and realistic salary expectations would have been helpful.
Alumni Network9The school does provide an email program and website for any job positions in my area. However, there is room for improvement with notifying alumni about changes in regulations, such as licensing.
