"I was able to learn what was necessary to find a job. However I found out that there were a lot of things I had not learned that were necessary to function in a Doctor's office."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | no | I feel that the course was not bad. However; all of the information needed to achieve success was not conveyed in real life situations in an office environment. |
| Program Reputation | American Institute is no longer active in Boise, ID. I have not researched to see if they are active in any other states. | |
| Program Quality | 6 | I was able to learn the information necessary for my field. The clinical time was very short. |
| Instruction | 7 | I was able to learn the skills necessary to effectively find work as a Medical Assistant. The curriculum was well thought out, but I have acquired more skills on the job than in school. |
| How Difficult | 2 | The program was easy to complete. With proper study methods anything is easy. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | Half of the day was spent with professors who taught from the books. The other half of the day was spent practicing what we were learning. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 1 | The only hours available were four hours per day Monday through Friday. One class in the morning and one class in the evening. There were no other options. |
| Academic Facilities | 8 | The clinical portion of my studies worked very well. There were always plenty of supplies for learning and actually performing what we were learning. |
| Social Life | 2 | Any events planned were by students. The staff were not involved with us socially. |
| Placement Services | 3 | Prior to completion there is a six week externship. I believe the doctors participate in this because they get free labor. For this reason I felt like I was on my own in my job search. |
| Alumni Network | 1 | Once I started working, I was unable to reach any of the administrative staff. The school has passed through many hands in several years. |
