"I was able to learn what was necessary to find a job. However I found out that there were a lot of things I had not learned that were necessary to function in a Doctor's office."

Would Recommend?noI feel that the course was not bad. However; all of the information needed to achieve success was not conveyed in real life situations in an office environment.
Program ReputationAmerican Institute is no longer active in Boise, ID. I have not researched to see if they are active in any other states.
Program Quality6I was able to learn the information necessary for my field. The clinical time was very short.
Instruction7I was able to learn the skills necessary to effectively find work as a Medical Assistant. The curriculum was well thought out, but I have acquired more skills on the job than in school.
How Difficult2The program was easy to complete. With proper study methods anything is easy.
Hands-On vs. BookishHalf of the day was spent with professors who taught from the books. The other half of the day was spent practicing what we were learning.
Schedule Flexibility1The only hours available were four hours per day Monday through Friday. One class in the morning and one class in the evening. There were no other options.
Academic Facilities8The clinical portion of my studies worked very well. There were always plenty of supplies for learning and actually performing what we were learning.
Social Life2Any events planned were by students. The staff were not involved with us socially.
Placement Services3Prior to completion there is a six week externship. I believe the doctors participate in this because they get free labor. For this reason I felt like I was on my own in my job search.
Alumni Network1Once I started working, I was unable to reach any of the administrative staff. The school has passed through many hands in several years.
