| Would Recommend? | This is not applicable to me | |
| Program Reputation | 5 | This is not applicable to me |
| Program Quality | 10 | The CCNA program is not too difficult to complete. I believe it is an excellent alternative to a 2 or 4 year degree. |
| Instruction | 9 | The Cisco Press book I used was very thorough. There is a lot of material and it's important to stop and review every chapter. |
| How Difficult | 8 | Self study can be very difficult. I had to put aside time to study every night. As I said above, I needed to reread the material a lot to commit it to memory. |

"It got my foot in the door and I am thankful for that. The school also directed me towards the right certifications to take."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | no | Honestly, certifications are the way to go to be a network administrator. I would get my network + certification and work towards my MCSA. |
| Program Reputation | 5 | They do advertise the program often around the area. I was pretty much offered it the second I walked into the career services office. |
| Program Quality | 3 | I started out as an English major and then switched, so I cannot comment on the full program, but my school did a very poor job of getting me into the swing of network admin work. |
| Instruction | 6 | The teachers often just cited anecdotal experience and not full on descriptions. I never had any problem with the tests and did not find it very challenging. |
| How Difficult | 2 | Like I mentioned above, I did not have much of a problem with the course load. I would tell anyone interested that certifications are the way to go. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | It was EXTREMELY book heavy. I often caught additions to the software that were added AFTER the book was released. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 10 | Housatonic is very flexible when it comes to class schedules. I was able to take courses on both the nights and weekends. |
| Academic Facilities | 6 | I had very little hands on work with computers. It was a lot of studying and there was some work studying from a projector. |
| Social Life | 2 | As it was a community college, I did not really have a lot of social interaction with the students beyond the few friends I made. There weren't any parties offered. |
| Placement Services | 1 | They do not offer job placement. At best I got some suggestions on where to go for employment. |
| Alumni Network | 1 | It was a community college so there isn't much follow up in terms of Alumni support. We are often asked for donations, though. |
