Program Quality10The CCNA program is not too difficult to complete. I believe it is an excellent alternative to a 2 or 4 year degree.
Instruction9The Cisco Press book I used was very thorough. There is a lot of material and it's important to stop and review every chapter.
How Difficult8Self study can be very difficult. I had to put aside time to study every night. As I said above, I needed to reread the material a lot to commit it to memory.

"It got my foot in the door and I am thankful for that. The school also directed me towards the right certifications to take."

Would Recommend?noHonestly, certifications are the way to go to be a network administrator. I would get my network + certification and work towards my MCSA.
Program Reputation5They do advertise the program often around the area. I was pretty much offered it the second I walked into the career services office.
Program Quality3I started out as an English major and then switched, so I cannot comment on the full program, but my school did a very poor job of getting me into the swing of network admin work.
Instruction6The teachers often just cited anecdotal experience and not full on descriptions. I never had any problem with the tests and did not find it very challenging.
How Difficult2Like I mentioned above, I did not have much of a problem with the course load. I would tell anyone interested that certifications are the way to go.
Hands-On vs. BookishIt was EXTREMELY book heavy. I often caught additions to the software that were added AFTER the book was released.
Schedule Flexibility10Housatonic is very flexible when it comes to class schedules. I was able to take courses on both the nights and weekends.
Academic Facilities6I had very little hands on work with computers. It was a lot of studying and there was some work studying from a projector.
Social Life2As it was a community college, I did not really have a lot of social interaction with the students beyond the few friends I made. There weren't any parties offered.
Placement Services1They do not offer job placement. At best I got some suggestions on where to go for employment.
Alumni Network1It was a community college so there isn't much follow up in terms of Alumni support. We are often asked for donations, though.
