"Loved the work, hated some of the instructors. In spite of the negative news surrounding PSU there are Deans who are tuned in and deal with these situations quickly."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | no | The program is no longer available. If it were still available, I believe it would be at least as good as it was when I was attending. |
| Program Reputation | 9 | The program is closed at PSU. The computer science department is now the foundation for IT education and sadly, the instructors are not able to tie in the business relevance of the content. |
| Program Quality | 8 | The program was a great source of information and very challenging. Unfortunately, PSU no longer has this program as the department fell below the minimum number of instructors during the recent financial and economic down turn. |
| Instruction | 10 | Instructors used current and relevant reference materials. The school ensured reasonable equipment for classroom labs. |
| How Difficult | 8 | If you are not a techie, it can be difficult to grasp the language. Terminology is the key to this field, without a working knowledge of the language you will be lost. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | Well-balanced mix of hands on and book. The instructors provide a great venue to ensure there is clarity and understanding. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 7 | Most classes are available in various time slots but some are restricted based on available staffing. As I mentioned earlier, PSU no longer provides this degree program. |
| Academic Facilities | 9 | Excellent resources and a first rate research lab. The support offices for the lab and library are always available to supply any needed assistance. |
| Social Life | 4 | I am not much of a social person though I understand there are many programs to support the younger generations. School spirit was and continues to be very high. |
| Placement Services | 7 | The jobs office works hard to find students employment opportunities. The resources to find work are just too limited. |
| Alumni Network | 5 | I am not active in the alumni association and from my perspective the alumni are not that active at the school. There are events and support for students through grants but they are few and far between. |
