"It was a nice school. Very fair, but sometimes frustrating."

Would Recommend?maybeDepending on the type of education you are seeking, this may or may not be the place for you. If you need a flexible schedule, then look else where.
Program Reputation3I rated this low because it is almost unknown. I have not heard anything ever pertaining to this program.
Program Quality5The school itself was less than superb. The computer science degree seemed to be an after thought of the mathematics department and often was treated as such.
Instruction5The program had at most three instructors. Every semester a dozen classes were listed but then cancelled before enrollment ever began because they could not support them.
How Difficult5The difficulty varied depending on the instructor. The program head was surprisingly easy, but one of the tenured professors was amazingly difficult.
Hands-On vs. BookishEverything was by the book. Any hands on learning came directly from the book.
Schedule Flexibility1Classes are either early during the day or really late at night, and that's it.
Academic Facilities6New computer labs. Up to date course materials.
Social Life1I lived off campus and did not participate in many social events.
Placement Services5They are very helpful and attempt to really find you a job.
Alumni Network5I am not too familiar with this. I do not participate in alumni events.

Would Recommend?yesI recommend AMU to everyone I meet. It is an affordable school with challenging courses.
Program Reputation8Online universities have a mixed reputation, in general. In my experience, AMU has a very good reputation within the military and in academia in general.
Program Quality8AMU has very good programs in a variety of fields. I thoroughly enjoyed every class I took.
Instruction8All instructors were intimately familiar with their subjects. Most of my instructors were also professors/instructors at Service academies. My knowledge of the topics in each course increased significantly. Also, each course built upon the lessons from previous courses.
How Difficult8Each course was academically challenging. None of the courses were 'easy' or something that you could 'slack off' in.
Hands-On vs. BookishThe majority of the courses I took were reading heavy. The science-based courses had labs, which helped a lot. The computer courses included labs as well.
Schedule Flexibility9Courses start on the first of every month. This is extremely flexible and works in the student's favor.
Academic Facilities8AMU's online system is top-notch. They are constantly upgrading their systems to deliver the curricula in better ways.
Social Life8For an online university, there is a lot of school spirit. The student and alumni community is very active on Facebook groups and in the school's student forums. I have met/socialized with AMU students in the DC area many times.
Alumni Network8AMU has a very active and supportive Alumni system. There are forums, Facebook pages, email groups, etc. There is also a very useful "Mentoring" network, in which Alumni and graduates assist new students.
