"It was a nice school. Very fair, but sometimes frustrating."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | maybe | Depending on the type of education you are seeking, this may or may not be the place for you. If you need a flexible schedule, then look else where. |
| Program Reputation | 3 | I rated this low because it is almost unknown. I have not heard anything ever pertaining to this program. |
| Program Quality | 5 | The school itself was less than superb. The computer science degree seemed to be an after thought of the mathematics department and often was treated as such. |
| Instruction | 5 | The program had at most three instructors. Every semester a dozen classes were listed but then cancelled before enrollment ever began because they could not support them. |
| How Difficult | 5 | The difficulty varied depending on the instructor. The program head was surprisingly easy, but one of the tenured professors was amazingly difficult. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | Everything was by the book. Any hands on learning came directly from the book. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 1 | Classes are either early during the day or really late at night, and that's it. |
| Academic Facilities | 6 | New computer labs. Up to date course materials. |
| Social Life | 1 | I lived off campus and did not participate in many social events. |
| Placement Services | 5 | They are very helpful and attempt to really find you a job. |
| Alumni Network | 5 | I am not too familiar with this. I do not participate in alumni events. |

"I am extremely satisfied with AMU. I am currently pursuing my Master's in IT Management with a concentration in Cyber Security with them."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | yes | I recommend AMU to everyone I meet. It is an affordable school with challenging courses. |
| Program Reputation | 8 | Online universities have a mixed reputation, in general. In my experience, AMU has a very good reputation within the military and in academia in general. |
| Program Quality | 8 | AMU has very good programs in a variety of fields. I thoroughly enjoyed every class I took. |
| Instruction | 8 | All instructors were intimately familiar with their subjects. Most of my instructors were also professors/instructors at Service academies. My knowledge of the topics in each course increased significantly. Also, each course built upon the lessons from previous courses. |
| How Difficult | 8 | Each course was academically challenging. None of the courses were 'easy' or something that you could 'slack off' in. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | The majority of the courses I took were reading heavy. The science-based courses had labs, which helped a lot. The computer courses included labs as well. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 9 | Courses start on the first of every month. This is extremely flexible and works in the student's favor. |
| Academic Facilities | 8 | AMU's online system is top-notch. They are constantly upgrading their systems to deliver the curricula in better ways. |
| Social Life | 8 | For an online university, there is a lot of school spirit. The student and alumni community is very active on Facebook groups and in the school's student forums. I have met/socialized with AMU students in the DC area many times. |
| Alumni Network | 8 | AMU has a very active and supportive Alumni system. There are forums, Facebook pages, email groups, etc. There is also a very useful "Mentoring" network, in which Alumni and graduates assist new students. |
