"I did get the certificate I set out to get. They placed me into a position accordingly."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | yes | It's a well known school with knowledgeable faculty. They offered a friendly learning environment. |
| Program Reputation | 7 | Everyone involved in the field in that region knows about Petra and its accomplishments. I am not aware of the reputation outside of the region. |
| Program Quality | 8 | The school followed through with promises made on locating a position. Teachers were knowledgeable and dependable concerning the courses. |
| Instruction | 8 | Excellent instruction. The teachers were highly trained and knowledgeable. |
| How Difficult | 5 | Nothing about the course was that difficult, nor was it that easy. There was a certain amount of effort required on the student's part. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | There was an equal amount of hands on learning compared to book studies. There was regular book work and tests as well as daily hands on work. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 5 | The course offered three different class schedules. They were willing to work with you if you had schedule conflicts. |
| Academic Facilities | 6 | Everything needed to complete the course could be found in the classroom. Off site facilities provided great accommodations. |
| Social Life | 2 | There was no real social aspect. There was only one get together outside of the classroom. |
| Placement Services | 10 | I had a job before I had finished the course, and the job offered a competitive salary for that line of work. |
| Alumni Network | 1 | There is no alumni system at all, so there are no events or anything after completion. |

Studying Personal Care Aide, 2-Week Course For 8 Hours A Day (completion in 2009)

• 12/4/2011
"I was satisfied with this course, because I learned what I needed to learn in that 2-week period, so I do not feel my time was wasted. The experience was a good one."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | yes | I would recommend this school, because the teacher knew what she was talking about and because the course was in a good environment. |
| Program Quality | 10 | The teacher was an RN. She was very excited about what she did, so that made the course exciting. |
| Instruction | 10 | The RN used personal experiences to explain different things. She also called in some local care aide facilities to come speak to us and let us apply to the agency. I received my job after I was done with my two-week course. |
| How Difficult | 5 | Many of the things we were learning were common sense or things that you do for yourself on an everyday basis. The only things I had to learn were the correct procedures of certain tasks and how to change a patient's diaper or sheets while they were still lying in the bed. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | We received instruction and homework from the book, as well as class activities. Along with the class activities, we did much hands-on work and listened to different stories from an experienced nurse. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 1 | Being that the course was just 2 weeks for 8 hours a day or so, there was not that much flexibility. But the course did work out well. |
| Academic Facilities | 10 | I liked this facility, because it was a group of about 10 people, so the classroom was big enough for all of us to be comfortable. The laboratories were great also, because we had all the equipment we needed, and we were able to perform a hands-on exercise for each topic we studied. |
| Social Life | 5 | My social experience was good. I was able to talk and connect with my classmates, even though I was the youngest one in the class by many years. |
| Placement Services | 10 | The job placement assistance was great. I received my job when I completed the two-week course. |
| Alumni Network | It is hard to answer this question, being that I was on this campus for the two weeks I was taking the program. But everything did seem more organized than many other facilities I have heard about. |
