Studying Medical Assistant (completion in 1995)

11/8/2011

"This was the start of my medical career. It showed that I had both a gift for it and a love for it. It's the reason that almost 15 years later, I'm still doing what I love, Nursing."

Would Recommend?yesIt's a fantastic way to get a foot in the door. Even if you just want to test the waters and see if it's for you or not. It's the best place to start in my opinion.
Program Reputation10You'll enter a course there and come out fully trained and ready to work in your field of choice in six to nine months.
Program Quality10Upon completion of my schooling I had a job ready. I walked out of there without any doubts of what I was capable of doing in my field of work.
Instruction10We had excellent instructors, who not only taught us from our books but also with their lives. The course work was very up to date with new books and a well-rounded library for further research.
How Difficult7Anything that comes easy is not worth doing. The medical field was something new every day. I loved it, therefore I absorbed it with vigor.
Hands-On vs. BookishIt was a great mix of both, and equally divided. You would start a particular study in your book and by the end of the chapter you were in the lab performing and working on what you just learned.
Schedule Flexibility5At that time, computers were not used in the class rooms. As for class flexibility, they only offered one course.
Academic Facilities10The instructor was top notch and not overbearing at all. We had our own personal library and lab area in our class, so all was very convenient. There were also tutors and daily support groups on all subjects.
Social Life5This was a vocational tech school, so there really weren't any sports activities. Some courses, such as mine, had academic groups to compete in and that was always fun.
Placement Services8Out of my graduating class I only know of three who didn't used what they learned, and that was by their choice. Everybody else came out with jobs and are still working in the medical field.
Alumni Network8They helped plan what you wanted to do with your education. Everyone left the course with an excellent resume in hand. If after completing the course you still had questions you could come back as often as you liked.
