Studying Certified Nursing Assistant Course (completion in 2011)

"I was satisfied, because the program was quick, not really difficult, and prepared me for a job paying more than minimum wage. The quality of the program probably could have been better, but for what I needed at the time, it was perfect."

Would Recommend?yesI would recommend it to anyone looking for a fast, inexpensive way to make more money. I would recommend going somewhere else if they are looking to really learn the material thoroughly.
Program Reputation7A lot of people in my area take this program. The only negative things that people say about it are about one of the teachers and how it is not hands on.
Program Quality7I felt like I learned a lot during the program in a very little amount of time. At times, I felt like the program was a little too easy and there was not enough hands-on learning.
Instruction7I felt like I was prepared for my career and I learned a lot. I had two teachers, which made it hard. One of them really needed to take a speech class, because she said "um" and "uh" a lot.
How Difficult3We never had any real homework and the tests were easy. The only hard part of the class was the state board exam.
Hands-On vs. BookishThough we had lab time, lecture time, and clinicals, I felt like we would have benefited from having more clinical time, because that is where you really learn what your career is going to be like. Our in-class time wasn't spent wisely.
Schedule Flexibility4The course is offered once a term, and it is five days a week, for 6-8 hours a day, for a month and a half. Therefore, it is not flexible as far as something you can do and have a job at the same time or take other classes with, unless you are lucky. It is offered in the summer. Other schools have part-time and night options.
Academic Facilities5We had a large classroom and a laboratory for practicing for clinicals. We had three beds, three practice mannequins, and other materials. Our equipment wasn't updated, but it wasn't horrible.
Social Life2I have met a lot of friends at my school, through my classes and labs. There aren't any athletics, parties, or school spirit activities.
Placement Services6Our school didn't help any of us find jobs. However, many of us were able to get jobs at the nursing home we did our clinicals at, afterward.
Alumni Network5Many alumni donate to scholarship funds. That is the only thing I have heard about alumni at CGCC.
