"Their resources were very limited. Also, the education was sub-par."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | no | I am currently back in school pursuing a degree that will gain me more advancement and credibility. |
| Program Reputation | 5 | Competing with the other community college in the area, LCCC in comes second best in terms of education and resources. |
| Program Quality | 5 | They offered great classes. |
| Instruction | 5 | The school had good instruction and offered help on how to advance in this field. |
| How Difficult | 3 | Learning the medical information they taught us was very easy and on a level where a 5th grader can get a degree. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | They incorporated both hands on and book learning with our education. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 5 | I believe the flexibility is on the level of any college. |
| Academic Facilities | 4 | With the career path that I pursued, there was more help for those looking to become a nurse or MD. |
| Social Life | 7 | Working full time and attending school full time, being involved in the school was a little difficult. The school did provide a lot of activities and events for students to mingle. |
| Placement Services | 5 | The school held career fairs. Also, they offered career services for students. |
| Alumni Network | 1 | I haven't heard from them at all. |

Studying CNA (completion in 2011)

• 11/17/2011
"I passed my CNA test on the first try. It was an OK course."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | yes | It's a good place to start out as a CNA. WCCC is affordable and fair. |
| Program Reputation | 10 | Everyone recommends it. It's one of the only ones in the county. |
| Program Quality | 5 | The teachers were nice. Six weeks isn't long enough, though. |
| Instruction | 5 | |
| How Difficult | 7 | This class was very time consuming. Working with people is not easy. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | We had clinicals and a ton of hands on experience. We spent about the same amount of time in the classroom. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 5 | No online classes were available for this course. Evening classes were the only option available at the time. |
| Academic Facilities | 5 | WCCC didn't really have us on campus. We were in a nursing home the majority of the time. |
| Placement Services | 7 | Job placement was great. The instructors referred us to places. |
| Alumni Network | There isn't really an alumni network for this program. |

Studying Radiologic Technician (completion in 1975)

• 11/10/2011
"I learned and did very well, graduating at the top of my class. I was able to get a very good job that is fulfilling and interesting."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | yes | The technical school is a great experience for those who want to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. The classes are structured to help everyone learn as much as they want and help those who need and want help. No one is graduated or placed without the proper field orientation and practice. |
| Program Reputation | 10 | Travis has a very good program for CNA and many people attend for it. With the job market so slow in Florida medical fields are the only ones still hiring. These are the best classes to take and be certified in. |
| Program Quality | 9 | I was very satisfied with my Radiologic Technician career, but was laid off when the economy crashed and I went to a technical school to become a Certified Nursing Assistant so I could do Home Health Aide/Companion work until the job market in Florida picked up. |
| Instruction | 10 | I attended Travis Technical School for my CNA training. The program was very thorough and involved lots of hands-on training. |
| How Difficult | 7 | As I am familiar with, and love the medical field, the training for CNA was very easy for me. The studies and hands on training was fun and easy. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | The program is about a 50/50 mix of hands on and book study followed by a series of clinical practice sessions. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 5 | The school does not operate during the summer and does not offer night classes for CNA. It is such a short class cycle that flexibility is really not needed. |
| Academic Facilities | 10 | Not only are the school resources for study courses excellent, but the hands on clinical placement locations also have excellent resources for help if needed. |
| Social Life | 8 | There is not much time for social activities in a short term class. I was not interested in socializing, just learning to graduate and get a job. |
| Placement Services | 10 | Everyone does clinical while in training and almost all students are placed in jobs when finished with the courses. |
| Alumni Network | 5 | There really is not much alumni support for a technical school. |
