"Although it's difficult, I feel I have accomplished a lot by completing my studies at BYU. I am excited to enter the workforce and use the skills I have worked so hard to obtain."

Would Recommend?yesThis is a very difficult program to be accepted into. I would recommend that others work hard on the prerequisites and have almost perfect grades in order to ensure entrance into this program. I have loved my experiences here and would recommend them to anyone else hoping to become an RN.
Program Reputation9I have heard that BYU graduates are respected in the workforce and that jobs (outside of Utah) are much easier to acquire. I will be testing this out soon as I move to California.
Program Quality9Very rigorous classes with lots of patient interaction built in. Class sizes were relatively small and intimate. The students grow close and are provided with multiple opportunities to work in internships both locally and internationally each semester.
Instruction10Teachers were approachable and worked with us. The preceptors of our internship programs were fairly flexible with the constraints of student schedules. Overall excellent pairing of students to teachers/mentors.
How Difficult9Certain classes were harder than others but for the most part testing reflected the material we were asked to cover. I feel prepared to work as an RN in a hospital. I also feel prepared to take the NCLEX this upcoming winter.
Hands-On vs. BookishThis was a good blend of both hands on and book learning. Some things such as pharmacology just have to be memorized, whereas starting IVs etc must be practiced multiple times to become confident. This institution helped us gain experience that has helped me be confident as I administer care.
Schedule Flexibility8There are considerations made for students wishing to defer in order to fulfill a 2 year or 18 month religious mission. In addition, some prerequisite classes can be taken after regular school hours/summers etc. Core major classes are quite rigid though and must be fit in regardless of other commitments.
Academic Facilities9Tons of computers and books in the library. Software and practice simulators for procedures are also available for student use. Occasionally the dummy patients and simulators can be quite busy as students cram last minute for an exam in a particular area. Overall it is quite easy to access study materials though.
Social Life9I had wonderful opportunities to be paired with the same group for most of the core nursing classes. I became close friends with many and graduated together. I was also able to travel to Ghana for 3+ weeks with a small group (14 students 2 faculty) to work in a small town L&D clinic.
Placement Services8The hours of the nursing advisement center work well for most students. The staff are friendly and help direct you to opportunities and programs that match your interests in most cases.
Alumni Network5I have not received much information on an alumni network. I know it exists, but I feel like they have not done much to reach out to me. There have been informational meetings in previous semesters but they often conflict with other scheduling demands.

Would Recommend?maybeIt's a hard career. It pays the bills. Not everyone loves it, but I like it.
Program Reputation2The school is known as the dropout school. Often students will graduate and not be able to place in a job.
Program Quality9I loved my teacher; I worked hard and she recognized that. Years later, she remembered me, which meant a lot.
Instruction10Almost everything I learned, I applied. I felt prepared and ready to work.
How Difficult4Many skills were needed to pass, but hands-on learning was easy for me. It amazed me that some people had to retake the class.
Hands-On vs. BookishWe had a good half-and-half mix. There was a lot of bookwork, but it was great preparation.
Schedule Flexibility8They offer many night courses, but no online courses.
Academic Facilities5The facility is older, but they are updating it. Library is small, if they have one. In terms of the atmosphere, it feels more like a high school than a college.
Social Life1There were no social activities at all. Everyone was in and out, and doing their own thing.
Placement Services1They offer courses for jobs that are extremely full in our area. With so many people going back to school, they need to continually update their programs for marketable jobs.
Alumni Network2I receive a quarterly magazine with current classes offered, and that is all the contact I have had. They do offer workshops to reach out to the community, which I think is fabulous.
