"Everyone has something they would change about their current school. I would like the campus to be more together, instead of being all over the town. It is very spread out."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | yes | For anyone wanting to go into a medical profession, this is definitely the way to go. I had a very hands-on experience. There is bookwork, but I really learned so much, due to the hands-on experience at the hospital and the help from all the nursing staff and doctors. |
| Program Reputation | 6 | The university is also a hospital. It is the number one heart hospital in the area. To have a nursing degree and be able to be hands on at the hospital is a dream come true. |
| Program Quality | 10 | The classes were small and very hands on. In nursing school, my teachers are amazing. Coming in before and after class really helps also. I want to do the job to the best of my ability, because that is how I would want to be taken care of. |
| Instruction | 5 | I was very confused at first. When I think back on some of the things I learned, I laugh, because I had no idea how to do those things then, but now, I can't believe someone wouldn't know how to do them. For instance, I used to sit in the doctor's office and wonder how they knew my blood pressure with a cuff. Now, I think it's silly to think that way. |
| How Difficult | 2 | Since I am in nursing school, I thought it was a piece of cake compared to my other classes. Workload was normal and I learned a lot in a short amount of time. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | Being a hospital/university, if you are in a medical program, everything is hands on. Yes, you have some bookwork, but hands on really helps. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 5 | I had trouble at first, because it is a university and not a small school, so that was tough. However, evening classes and online options are definitely a plus. You actually have time for a break and are not on overload all the time with your classes and work. |
| Academic Facilities | 10 | Advisors are the best. They really work to help you find what you actually need. If you don't learn well with a certain professor, they set you up with study groups and tutors. They go above and beyond. |
| Social Life | 7 | I am really concerned with schoolwork, so this kind of thing really doesn't pertain to me. However, football and basketball games are town events. If the games were held on a Sunday, people would miss church. |
| Placement Services | 10 | I didn't even have to look for a job coming out. They just automatically assumed I wanted to work there. |
| Alumni Network | 5 | A lot of my teachers went to school at WVU, so they know how it feels to be new. Support is great, because they do their best to calm your fears about anything you are worried about, from traffic jams to a final exam. |
