"I love the flexibility and choices available to me. I enjoy being able to go to class in my pajamas."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

Would Recommend?maybeI don't know about this question. I say this because I had previous experience in the field so what I learned was not new, just a refresher.
Program Reputation5I would consider them average. I say that because I have nothing to compare them to.
Program Quality7Because it is not a law school, the learning was very basic. I have learned far more while conducting research through my job with the District Attorneys Office.
Instruction5Teachers and professors are basic - cut of the same cloth types. The enthusiasm factor of the staff is next to nil.
How Difficult1It is all easy because I have done it before. The research that I do for my job entails far more work than the school ever did.
Hands-On vs. BookishMy learning is all book based due to me being in web classes.
Schedule Flexibility7They have several learning course styles. I have taken mainly the web based learning as it accommodates my busy schedule.
Academic Facilities5I only go to pay tuition. Other than that, I do not use the facilities.
Social Life3I have little to no interaction with other students other than through online chats.
Placement Services5I don't have an answer for this question. I have never even thought about asking as I have a job.
Alumni Network5I do not utilize the alumni network of the school for any reason. If I have a question I go to my boss, an attorney.

University Of Nevada, Reno • Reno, NV
Studying Paralegal Studies (completion in 1994)

10/30/2011

"I was very satisfied with the paralegal program at UNR. It provided me with the necessary certificate required by my employer in a very short amount of time and for a low expense."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

Would Recommend?yesYes, I would recommend this program at UNR to anyone pursuing a paralegal career. However, I would advise that they attend this program only after at least one year of experience as a legal secretary.
Program Reputation9The University has a wonderful reputation. Therefore, all study and certificate programs associated with it are highly regarded.
Program Quality8The paralegal program at UNR offers a good overall education. However, you must have on the job experience as a legal secretary to advance to the paralegal level.
Instruction8The course of study was relevant to the career and the program courses were challenging. Homework was vital and important in this program.
How Difficult6The program was not difficult for me because I had several years of experience prior to taking the courses. I enrolled in the program in order to obtain the certification required by my employer to be able to bill clients.
Hands-On vs. BookishMost of the topics were directly related to book learning. We did make several trips to law libraries for a more hands-on experience with research materials.
Schedule Flexibility9At the time I attended the program, it was offered on weekends only. This provided me with the opportunity to complete the courses without missing any work.
Academic Facilities7The accessibility of professors was very good with a lot of one-on-one interaction. Computer resources were not available, but we did go on several field trips to law libraries in the area.
Social Life2There were no athletics, parties, or other social events. I did not expect these types of offerings in this program.
Placement Services2There was no job placement in effect at the time I attended the program. The networking with other students in the program was extremely valuable.
Alumni Network3The alumni network for this particular program is next to nothing. I do not receive any communication from the instructors or current staff involved in this program.

University Of Nevada, Reno • Reno, NV
Studying Dual Major: Art/Sociology (completion in 2000)

3/13/2012

"I was satisfied with my curriculum and professors. Counseling needs to be worked on, as do enrollment procedures."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?maybeBecause I didn't go there to attain a law degree, I cannot make a recommendation for other's to attend the University. If they were to go their for a Sociology Degree, I would recommend them. For art, I would not recommend them to this University.
Program Reputation5Living outside the Reno area, I am not aware of the University's current rating and I don't know any current alumni. Because I have not heard of the school having a great curriculum, I give it an average rating.
Program Quality7The school provided necessary and sufficient classes for my majors. School counselors were not as helpful as they should have been, therefore, causing an extra year of school to finish the degree.
Instruction8My sociology professors were unique and beneficial to achieving my degree. My art professors were creative and imaginative. Some allowed my creativity to flourish.
How Difficult7Workload for my Sociology degree was not as heavy as I first thought. Art classes were more time consuming and critical than I could have imagined.
Hands-On vs. BookishAs for my sociology classes, they were really book oriented. My art classes were mostly hands-on oriented.
Schedule Flexibility4It was very difficult to juggle my school schedule with my part time job. Many times my calendars would conflict, therefore causing me to switch jobs to accommodate my school schedule.
Academic Facilities6Facilities were nice. The attendance of the school was not to excessive, therefore making the class sizes and teacher availability more open.
Social Life4I kept to myself most of the time in school. I didn't seek out any social events or groups.
Placement Services4After graduating it was hard to find resources for job placement, especially with an art degree. I ended up starting my own business to try to get my foot in the door.
Alumni NetworkNot too familiar with my alumni. I guess that means they were not efficient in gaining my interest in clubs and support groups.
