Would Recommend?yesI think the education I received prepared me well for my job. I was able to work and attend school easily and the education wasn't overly expensive.
Program Reputation5I think their current reputation is good. Most students who graduate from the program find work in the legal field or go on to get advanced degrees.
Program Quality8I learned excellent legal research skills and the instructors were very knowledgeable. I would have liked more exposure to actual court filings and how to prepare legal documents for Oregon courts.
Instruction8I learned from well-qualified instructors. I would have liked more exposure and knowledge about Oregon courts and more state-specific information.
How Difficult5I don't have anything to compare it to. I was able to challenge myself academically by taking more difficult classes.
Hands-On vs. BookishThis varied a great deal between professors. Professors seemed able to structure their own itinerary and as such. Some stuck with book learning while others were hands-on. Internships were available to supplement hands-on learning and to develop job skills.
Schedule Flexibility3Almost all classes were held in the evenings to accommodate working students. Although that's an advantage to some, it would have been nice to have the option of taking classes during the day.
Academic Facilities8I thought professors were accessible and we had the use of several county law libraries and the local law school library. Classroom space was good. I don't know about tutors or study groups as I never used them.
Social Life1The legal assistant program was geared towards non-traditional students. Most students worked during the day and attended night classes, making organized events or parties unlikely.
Placement Services5I didn't make use of the job placement services so I don't know much about them. Most jobs are found through word of mouth.
Alumni Network4I was unaware of any official alumni network or support. Most support was purely word of mouth or through the grapevine, which was much more accessible if you were already working in the field.
