"They teach you how to provide holistic care that is patient-centered as well as treatment-based. The instructors I had during this program are some of the most decent human beings I've met. Aside from the tuition and program costs, I'm glad I chose LLU."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | yes | I would definitely recommend the program because of the instructors and the resources the department provides. However, the tuition costs are hefty and you'll need a great deal of financial aid to afford the program. The people at the financial aid office bend over backwards to get you the appropriate funds. |
| Program Reputation | 8 | Loma Linda University is already well-known for the cutting edge work they do at the hospital and the medical school. The physical therapy program has become increasing competitive over the years and admission is difficult. |
| Program Quality | 9 | I received an education that was holistic as well as academic. I got to work with some great and compassionate PTs and the teachers were very resourceful. |
| Instruction | 9 | This program covered everything from didactic learnings to clinical rotations. I got to work under supervision with patients. The instruction included up-to-date research. |
| How Difficult | 9 | The program is competitive but competition between students is not hostile. This was a nurturing and friendly environment, since LLU is a religious institution. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | It was a practical collaboration of book knowledge and technical experience. The start of the program was more didactic and grew increasingly more clinical towards the end. I was practically at the hospital 24/7 for the last couple of quarters. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 8 | The classes are taken in sequence and are usually offered one time during the academic year. They recommend that you don't work while taking this program, and weekend and evening options are not available. |
| Academic Facilities | 9 | I would say the university library has an impressive collection of periodicals, and there are enough computers to accommodate a large group of students. I never had trouble finding a resource or having access to a computer. |
| Social Life | 9 | At the tuition they charge, I would say this program is pretty impressive. The teachers are compassionate and accommodating. The campus atmosphere is non-intimidating and friendly. They have a nice campus market that sells vegetarian and organic products. |
| Placement Services | 9 | I was able to ensure job placement months before my graduation. The clinical sites I worked at approved of my work and offered me an employment position, which I accepted. |
| Alumni Network | 9 | I personally did not take too much advantage of the alumni network. But I do know that LLU has a supportive alumni that always contributes donations to the program. In fact, most of the instructors graduated from LLU. |
