"I'm an extremely proud alum! Attending Ohio University was the best decision I made in my life. The education I received and the friendships I made are unbelievable."

| Would Recommend? | yes | Scripps is one of the best in the business. I am excited for the future of Scripps, as they are revamping the program. |
| Program Reputation | 10 | When I entered Scripps, it was the number 2 journalism program in the country. I was thrilled to join the legacy, and happy to be adding to it as well. |
| Program Quality | 9 | I really liked Scripps. Most of the professors were extremely qualified, and being part of a school with such a reputation was amazing. |
| Instruction | 8 | Some of the courses I had to take my freshman and sophomore years were really unnecessary. There was a course called Info Gathering, in which you learned how to use search engines. Once you get past these courses, the higher-level courses are more focused on your sequence (mine was PR). These courses were all hands on. In the last course in the PR sequence, we had to create and implement a PR plan for an actual client. That was an amazing learning experience! |
| How Difficult | 6 | I honestly did not find the journalism program to be difficult at all. At the same time, I really enjoyed many of the classes, so I guess that could be a reason why I didn't find the program hard. Some of the courses were very rigorous, though. Two courses (Media Ethics and Communication Law) were a struggle, but that's to be expected at the senior level of courses. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | The first two years of the program are focused around book learning. The last two years are mostly hands on. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 4 | For me, the schedule was amazing! There were no classes on Friday and none after 5 p.m. I don't think online, weekend, evening or summer courses were really available. The higher-level courses are only offered during the fall, winter and spring, and they are only on campus. |
| Academic Facilities | 9 | The building was pretty adequate. It had personality, and that counts for a lot. It was nice to have a library and computer labs within the actual school. The advisors were decent. There were a few that were terrible, but the majority were there when you needed them and provided some excellent guidance. |
| Social Life | 10 | I cannot state how much I loved the social part of Ohio University. OU is a major party school, but once you learn how to balance that aspect of the student life with the academic side, you'll have success. I will forever be a fan OU's football and basketball teams! I am enamored with my alma mater and plan to be until the end of time! |
| Placement Services | 5 | It's so hard to rate this at such a time. Scripps provided a lot of networking events and career fairs while I was in school. That was excellent. Yet I know myself and many of my classmates had a tough time finding jobs, and some are still searching. I'm sure the economy has to have a major impact on that. |
| Alumni Network | I haven't been too involved with the alumni network. I keep in contact with some of my classmates, but I haven't connected with any alumni beyond that. I imagine Scripps' alumni network has to be decent. |

"I had a great time at Ohio University. However, many employers are looking for me to have attended a more prestigious university. I wish I had attended a school with a better reputation."

| Would Recommend? | maybe | I don't know if I would encourage others to pursue my career. If someone really were dead set on working in PR, I think OU has an OK program. |
| Program Reputation | 7 | I think OU's journalism program has a pretty good reputation among journalists. However, not that many people really know about journalism school rankings, so it doesn't do me much good. |
| Program Quality | 8 | Ohio University has a great journalism program. I learned a lot about many topics, including public relations. |
| Instruction | 8 | Instruction was great. However, career preparation probably could've been better. |
| How Difficult | 5 | I don't feel that I was as challenged as I could have been. I frequently received As for work that was nowhere near my best. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | It really depended on the professor. Some wanted to teach journalism from a book (which doesn't make sense), while others just sent us out to report. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 4 | There were many evening options. However, there were very few weekend options and even fewer online options. |
| Academic Facilities | 7 | OU has a great library with a ton of computers. However, the academic advisors were really lacking. |
| Social Life | 5 | Ohio University is known to be a party school, and that was my experience. My social interactions mostly consisted of getting drunk. |
| Placement Services | 3 | I was completely on my own when looking for a job after graduation. It took me close to 6 months to find one. |
| Alumni Network | 5 | Our alumni network seems active. Since I'm a recent alum, I haven't been very involved. |
