"I am very satisfied with the school itself. The school is very respected and very well known. When you interview for a job and they learn that you graduated from the SPC school of nursing, the are usually very impressed."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | yes | I would recommend this school to anyone! The only things are that the wait time and the requirements to get into the program are very strict. |
| Program Reputation | 10 | The reputation of SPC's nursing school is outstanding, hence the lower score I gave before because of the wait time. I have never second guessed my decision to become a nurse, and I still work on a truck as a PRN. |
| Program Quality | 8 | The only reason I rated this as an 8 was the length of time of the waiting list. The education was great. The clinicals we were placed in were amazing as well. |
| Instruction | 10 | My nursing instructors were outstanding and were always there when you needed them, never unwilling to help. The best part was when something was tough to overcome they understood and helped make sure you grasped every concept. |
| How Difficult | 6 | For me, doing it wasn't as difficult because I was a medic first. I knew a lot of the concepts and techniques that were incorporated into our classes. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | It was a good mix of hands on and book learning. As I would expect all nursing programs to be, hands on training is very important... you can't learn to place a cath by just reading. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 4 | That was a hard part of the program - it is only held on certain days and times. The clinicals were a bit more flexible than the core classes. |
| Academic Facilities | 10 | The resources they provided to us were outstanding. There were many study groups, and our labs were open to us even outside of class time for us to study. |
| Social Life | 5 | Well, it's a local college, so sporting events and parties are not much a part of the school. But as far as the spirit of the program goes, it was great. |
| Placement Services | 7 | There isn't much of a placement program, to be frank. But many of our instructors work for hospitals in our areas and didn't hesitate to provide references. |
| Alumni Network | 9 | I work with quite a few nurses that graduated from my program. And some of the techs on my floor are in the program right now, so a lot of people who went through the program stay connected. |
