| Would Recommend? | maybe | Getting a broad education is an asset, but there are definitely other benefits to receiving an education in a specialized area. Whereas I'm going to end up pursuing a master's to gain that additional focus, one might be able to do that in a shorter amount of time. |
| Program Reputation | 8 | Neuroscience is more difficult than Psychology, as are a few other majors. In the end, Psychology is incredibly difficult because it spans a wide breadth of subjects including math, sociology, and neuroscience. |
| Program Quality | 10 | A lot of undergraduate psychology programs are not as challenging as they could be. The program I took was incredibly thorough and included many courses within the fields of psychology, neuroscience, and research. |
| Instruction | 5 | The courses I took, and the degree I acquired, were not geared towards this sort of a job. However, I feel that my college did not do a great job of preparing me to enter the "real world" anyways. |
| How Difficult | 10 | |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | It was very much a mix of both. There was a lot of reading followed by a lot of discussions. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 1 | We took one course for three and a half weeks (one semester-long course). The classes were scheduled at any point during those three and a half weeks--any number of days per week, etc. |
| Academic Facilities | 10 | Wonderful! We had a main library with computer and tech resources, media centers in each of the dorms, labs in many buildings, etc. Each branch of education (social sciences, natural sciences, history, etc.) had its own building with classrooms, workrooms, labs, etc. |
| Social Life | 7 | There was a bit too much partying for my liking... but I think that is sadly just a trend we are seeing these days. |
| Placement Services | 5 | These services are there, if you request them. But for those of us with anxiety problems it is a little difficult to get that done through correspondence. |
| Alumni Network | 7 | The alumni are present, financially speaking, but not so much physically. I would have loved to have a bit more actual alums around. |

| Would Recommend? | yes | I would recommend Colorado State University to anyone, whether they were pursuing a career in sales management or any other career, for that matter. I felt as though students can leave this institution confident in their education and skills, and confident in their future. |
| Program Reputation | 8 | My university has been consistently highly ranked among the best schools given the cost of tuition. The school offers multiple programs of study that ranked among the best of all U.S. colleges. |
| Program Quality | 8 | My school offered a very comprehensive program of study with a very accomplished faculty. My brief experience in graduate school made me feel as though I had been very well prepared by my undergraduate degree. |
| Instruction | 8 | Very significant amount learned during my time of study. Again, preparation for graduate studies seemed more than adequate. |
| How Difficult | 9 | My degree was considered by most to be a "pre-professional degree." As such, the difficulty of the coursework and material was considerable. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | The opportunity for hands on learning is always available through a variety of ways. Internships, laboratory work, research collaborations, etc. are available to all willing to put forth the effort to get involved. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 8 | In addition to regular course schedules, online classes, summer classes, evening classes, and weekend classes are all offered. These aspects made attending class while working very easy. |
| Academic Facilities | 8 | The university provided, free of cost, tutoring for a very wide variety of courses. In addition, academic advisors were always available, as were multiple free computer labs, and the ability to rent laptops and other media devices. |
| Social Life | 8 | My university has and has always had a very loyal student body. Fan following for athletics has always been high, and organized events occur continuously throughout the school year, including free concerts from well known musical acts. |
| Placement Services | 8 | The career services center offers many resources for career placement, etc. Services include resume help, job listings, and other services free of charge to students and alumni. |
| Alumni Network | 8 | Alumni of my university are very dedicated and proud of this institution. The university goes to extensive lengths to stay in contact with alumni and keep them involved with the school. |

"I had a pleasant experience. I received my degree, which attracted employers and helped start my career."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | yes | Yes, but unfortunately the major is no longer offered. |
| Program Reputation | 1 | The major is gone. |
| Program Quality | 5 | My major was discontinued in 2005 due to a lack of interest. I believe that the classes offered watered down content to make it easy for more students to pass successfully. |
| Instruction | 5 | See my previous answer. It applies to both of these questions. |
| How Difficult | 5 | Again, see my previous answer. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | Almost every class related to the program was hands on. There were many projects and little bookwork. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 10 | I never had a problem with scheduling flexibility. I was always able to fill my semesters with the proper course load. |
| Academic Facilities | 7 | The facilities were above average. The campus was still improving when I left. |
| Social Life | 5 | I was focused on my studies, so my social experience was limited. |
| Placement Services | 5 | The career center wasn't focused. The employees handed out brochures and that was about it. |
| Alumni Network | 5 | The school could do a better job of promoting the alumni association. If it offered any incentive to alumni to participate, I believe there would be more participation. |

"My years here were great, and I continue to be thankful for the opportunities I received at this university. I can't think of a better place to have attended school."

| Would Recommend? | yes | The school provided me with all the tools I needed to be successful in life, and those tools continue to pay off for me to this very day. This university has everything any student could ask for. |
| Program Reputation | I'm honestly not sure where the school ranks nationally. However, I would think it should rank fairly highly. | |
| Program Quality | 9 | I have no idea what other schools provide in this area, but I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary at my college. I enjoyed my time there and feel I got the most out of my schooling. |
| Instruction | 9 | The instruction was good. I loved almost all of my professors. Also, every single professor there would answer any question when it popped up and would talk about any other topics that might help their students. |
| How Difficult | 8 | The program was very difficult. However, it came pretty easy to me. I worked well with this information and it is really something that I saw myself doing, which made it a little easier for me. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | I did a lot of hands-on learning in class and with professors as needed. However, I know a lot of students who just preferred to read chapters in a book to learn the material. I think this is really up to each individual person. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 8 | I never had a problem scheduling classes. There were numerous times and days available, so it was pretty easy to get your requirements fulfilled. |
| Academic Facilities | 9 | I loved the facilities. The buildings were fairly new and well maintained. And, to be honest, I'm not that big on noticing things like this, but they seemed more than nice. |
| Social Life | 9 | The social experience was great. There are tons of people in your major and other areas of the school to mingle with, not to mention the experience of living in the dorms. I'm so glad I did this, as I met countless lifelong friends by living in the dorms. |
| Placement Services | 9 | From talking to other students, the school was very helpful in assisting them in any way possible. I ended up with a job for a company I worked for previously. |
| Alumni Network | 10 | I love my school's alumni network. There are constantly events, functions, etc., for any student to attend. I haven't taken full advantage of this, but I plan to in the near future. |

"Socially, the school was amazing. Academically, I do wish I would have majored in another subject that may have been more applicable to real life."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | yes | My major is not very applicable to my current work, but I do know that my university has a very good business school. My friends who went through it have all said it has helped them in their current jobs. |
| Program Reputation | I do not know the current reputation of my school's program. I have not talked to anyone from that department for a couple years, so I cannot properly rate the current reputation. | |
| Program Quality | 7 | Many of my professors seemed to care more about the book they were writing or the research they were conducting, rather than actually teaching the class. However, two of my professors were absolutely amazing and made my senior year a good one. |
| Instruction | 5 | The quality of instruction was directly related to the amount of energy some of my professors put into teaching the class. Which, unfortunately, was not much. |
| How Difficult | 7 | It was above average, because of the amount of reading we had to do. But the grading of essays and exams was relatively easy, compared to what my peers told me about their programs. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | As a history major, you pretty much learn everything from reading. Every once in a while, we would watch film clips or have classroom discussions, but most is lecture and then reading. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 9 | We had the normal semester offerings with day and night classes. You can also take Maymester and two summer sessions, as well as internet courses. |
| Academic Facilities | 9 | The academic facilities are very nice. The library is massive and the internet catalogs they provide you with are extensive. There are peer review groups, writing centers, and tutor centers. |
| Social Life | 10 | The social experience at CU is very good, if you are an outgoing individual who likes a good party and outdoor activities. There are a lot of students, so something is always going on, and there is always a plethora of outdoor activities to get involved in. The school sports compete in competitive conferences (Pac 12), and the football games are extremely fun to attend. There are also numerous club and intramural sports that any student can participate in. The club rugby team and the club soccer team in particular are both very good and compete at high levels throughout the country. |
| Placement Services | 5 | It was average, because although we had job fairs, I do not know anyone who secured a job through one of them. Many students are out-of-state students, so placing them in jobs across the country is tough for the career services department. |
| Alumni Network | 7 | The alumni network is very good in terms of how many alumni are spread across the country. However, it is not so good in terms of alumni providing jobs or connections to jobs. |

"Overall, I am satisfied with my degree. I do feel that I could have gotten the same level of education and knowledge at a different institute."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | maybe | The main reasons I continued at CU were the cost and the fact that they happened to have a reasonably well-known language department. In-state tuition was what made me choose CU when I was unsure of what subject I would study. |
| Program Reputation | 10 | I believe that CU still offers the same high level of instruction as when I was attending classes. I still feel that their language department is better for the in-state price than other options in Colorado. |
| Program Quality | 10 | CU has an outstanding reputation as a language school. I am very pleased with the degree I received and the work that I had to accomplish in order to earn that degree. |
| Instruction | 9 | There was very little career preparation; that is the only reason for the less-than-perfect rating. Everything else was topnotch. |
| How Difficult | 9 | There was a large workload. However, all it took was diligence and the willingness to do rote memorization. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | For my major, it was almost strictly book learning. I was able to visit Nicaragua and there were a number of study abroad programs. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 7 | Fairly open, until you get to the upper-level classes. Once you were at the junior or senior level, the flexibility was almost nonexistent. |
| Academic Facilities | 10 | CU has always been top of the line. I never felt cheated or unsatisfied with any aspect of the campus. |
| Social Life | Based on the stereotypes and the large amount of partying, I focused mostly on study. I was not at school for the social aspect of college. | |
| Placement Services | 7 | I received no help or direction regarding career placement. However, a number of my friends were able to discuss options and received direction from their counselors. |
| Alumni Network | 5 | Alumni network has not made an attempt to contact me. However, based on many of the stereotypes that the university has, I would be reluctant to join. |

"They provided me with the skills and knowledge I needed to excel in my profession. The convenience was great for me as well."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | maybe | It really depends on how they want to learn. If they have kids, then yes, I would recommend it! |
| Program Reputation | 5 | It is right in the middle. They don't pride themselves on it, but it's a great program. |
| Program Quality | 8 | I had my doubts at first attending a "for-profit" university, but I am very satisfied with the programs. The flexibility was something that I needed. |
| Instruction | 10 | I walked away feeling very confident to jump into management and not flinch. The curriculum was great and on-point, not to mention updated on a regular basis. |
| How Difficult | 7 | The school and staff made the program very easy to understand and maintain. Occasionally the work load could get overwhelming, but I could count the number of times that happened on one hand. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | I did a ton of online learning and testing. Not too much hands on work or role playing. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 10 | The flexibility of the classes was great for me! Online classwork is what I did for most of the week and I loved it. |
| Academic Facilities | 9 | It was very good, and group study online was great! Accessibility to professors wasn't great. |
| Social Life | 2 | Everest is not a place that prides themselves on school spirit/athletics, etc. I thought it was just fine, though. |
| Placement Services | 3 | Their resources are not up to date. The "counselors" didn't seem to truly care, in my opinion. |
| Alumni Network | 8 | Their system is good. I have volunteered and even co-taught a class. |

Studying English - Creative Writing Emphasis (completion in 2011)

• 3/21/2012
"I really enjoyed myself. I didn't really care about extracurricular activities, so the lack in that area had no influence on me. I was at school to learn, and learn I did."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | yes | If you want to add more creativity into your writing, this school has a group of masters to learn from. They are great, and you will expand and grow immensely. |
| Program Reputation | 5 | People who know of it, know it is a good school. There are not many who have heard of it in the greater Colorado area. As a community college, it ranks well. |
| Program Quality | 10 | I had amazing teachers, one was the poet laureate. It also allowed me to do courses in school and online. |
| Instruction | 5 | The school was more oriented towards driving education, and not really about career goals. The teachers put the idea that we could go immediately into our fields. This has obviously not been the case for most. |
| How Difficult | 6 | The workload was demanding, especially in areas I am not well versed in, i.e. science, math, geography, etc. The classes I really found easy were the ones I was going for, english. The difficulty was not extreme, but I found rewards in my writing. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | The teachers were great. I don't think I could have learned biology in a non hands on learning environment. The majority of the teachers knew how to mix it up in just the right way. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 7 | The counselors are great, and very helpful, and resourceful, and knowledgeable. All of the courses transfer to the majority of colleges throughout the nation. They know what you are going for and they do their best to help. I would like to see more after graduation help. |
| Academic Facilities | 8 | The science labs are the top of the line. The library is amazing for the type of school it is, i.e. a community college. Classroom space is well defined. They even have a full gym. |
| Social Life | 1 | It was a community college. There really isn't much of a prep rally. I know they had some events, but none that appealed to me. |
| Placement Services | 6 | There is a desk that has pamphlets, sometimes people come from businesses and set up a booth. I would consider it a poorly established system. There really isn't an office or anything that helps you, or really instruction for post graduation. |
| Alumni Network | 1 | There really isn't one. As a community college, many things like this were not well established. We didn't even have a newspaper. |
