Oklahoma City Community College • Oklahoma City, OK
Studying English (completion in 2009)

"I am very satisfied with my college. I would definitely want my daughter to attend it when it's her time to study. It's an amazing school and I hope it stays strong for years to come."

Would Recommend?yesIt's a top notch community college. If you live in Oklahoma, then you'll be wasting your time by going to any other community college. It has the very best of everything in terms of community colleges in the state of Oklahoma.
Program Reputation7My college has a great reputation with all of its majors. English isn't one of their strongest programs, but it does well.
Program Quality8It's a great community college and I had the option to transfer to the large and well known universities that surround it. Obviously it being a community college means that it's not perfect.
Instruction10My college was small so I was able to get a lot from my professors and the program. The teachers were great and very helpful. The college also had great career forums and conventions.
How Difficult5I love english so my major wasn't very difficult for me. It's a medium work load.
Hands-On vs. BookishIt's definitely a mix. There was plenty of book time but I also recall lots of time getting out and learning hands on.
Schedule Flexibility6I needed more night and summer classes and they definitely didn't have a good selection. There were plenty of daytime week day classes available as well as online classes.
Academic Facilities10My community college had one of the best libraries in the state of Oklahoma. Students from all over came to use our library. Our greenhouse labs were also the tops in the state. We also had great tutors and study groups.
Social Life10I absolutely loved my community college and everyone there. If I could attend it for the rest of my life I would.
Placement Services9I think its great. All of my friends that graduated from the community college I went to got good jobs. I have a friend who is manager of a Burlington Coat Factory, another who is manager of a Starbucks, and another who has become a teacher in a local public school. I'm the only one out of all of my friends who didn't use the job placement program at my college.
Alumni Network5It has a great support basis. I've never looked into the alumni network, to be honest.

ITT Tech • Oklahoma City, OK

"Overall I was very happy with my school. I was able to learn a lot of info that I could use to help my customers get the best products and services they needed."

Would Recommend?yesYes I would. The school has several programs in my field and in others. They also do a good job of teaching all the current info and not teaching a lot of outdated information.
Program Reputation8I think the school has a good reputation nationwide. This is why I picked the school. I had heard of them and saw the TV ads in my area.
Program Quality9
Instruction9Most of our teachers were great in our field courses. A lot of times the books would have old info in them and our teachers would update the info to what was current in the industry.
How Difficult5I think my school work was average. A lot of my early classes were easy for me because I already knew the info. However, when I got to my later classes, I thought the work load was typical of what I would see at that level of school.
Hands-On vs. BookishI think the school had a very good mix of hands on activities and book work. We had several classes where we were able to stay in the computer lab during the whole class. However, on the other side, we had several classes in which we did not even use the labs.
Schedule Flexibility9Normally the school is very flexible with class schedules, but since I was in the first graduating class I was limited as to which classes I could take and when.
Academic Facilities10Our facilities were great. We had several computer labs that I had access to outside of class hours. Also, we had several advisors and instructors that would help us out on a regular basis.
Social Life10The school scheduled a lot of group activities that would bring several different class groups together. These would include the whole school from time to time.
Placement Services9Like I mention above, they have a great job placement program. During my schooling they had big businesses in the industry come in all the time to offer us job options. However, I did not need the job as I already had one and was in the process of starting my own business that I run now.
Alumni Network8The school has a good job placement program but I did not need to use it as I already had a job in the field and was in the process of starting my own business, which I am running now. Also, they have a vast online library that I have access to at any time.

Schedule Flexibility8There are many opportunities for night classes. I appreciated the flexible scheduling.
Academic Facilities8The facilities are clean. buildings are kept up and landscaping is attractive.
Social Life9The fraternity life at OU is great. It really is a great place to develop socially.
Placement Services7The placement services staff is very active. They will help you get interviews.

University Of Oklahoma • Norman, OK
Studying Business (completion in 2007)

"The school is great for being a personal business owner, and a bit harder for someone who wants to be a CEO or president of a company or firm. I needed to seek further education for these positions."

Would Recommend?maybeI would recommend this school, but I would also recommend a vocational school to start with. You need to be prepared for business management and sales before starting a program with The University of Oklahoma.
Program Reputation10This school's reputation is ever growing. Sports are 80% of why people attend. Once in the school, information is available and easily accessible.
Program Quality5The University of Oklahoma excels in business training. This school has great on-the-job training and preparation for sales training and business management. I was not pleased with how the teachers were more focused on the football team a majority of the time. A lot of times, focus would shift to sports rather than sales and business management.
Instruction5The school prepared our class for everyday businesses and self-employment. More was learned on the job.
How Difficult8At first, we were put directly into textbooks. There was not much interaction with the instructors for the first term. Later, as we moved along, we did internships before we thought we were ready.
Hands-On vs. BookishIt started with books, but went into internships very quickly; maybe a bit too quickly.
Schedule Flexibility6The class flexibility was poor. It was very hard to get a schedule to allow you to work and have time for parenting and family. This school seemed to be more for ages 19-26.
Academic Facilities5Professors were not easily accessible. The library seemed very unorganized at times and resources were always available.
Social Life10This school is mainly based on its football team. School spirit was based solely around this principle.
Placement Services10After internships, we were able to pursue our careers with the company we took internships with. If at any point we decided on a different location, the school was there to place us into a new location, with letters of recommendation.
Alumni Network10The student advisers were amazing. There was more than enough help readily available.

Northeastern Oklahoma A&M • Miami, OK
Studying (completion in 1992)

2/6/2012

"They provided a diploma and I met some life-long friends there."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?noIt was fine for the basics, but not really geared for Business.
Program Reputation5They can teach you Animal Science and properly explain crop rotation.
Program Quality5It is regional.
Instruction6Either you can sell or you can't. The company provided sales training that was much more helpful than any class I took in college. Again, a small agriculture school in rural Oklahoma did not (and was not designed to) prep for a career in a Fortune-500 sales organization.
How Difficult7I loved the course work. Professors were competent.
Hands-On vs. BookishThe education was very hands-on. Many of the students attended specifically to learn how to farm.
Schedule Flexibility3The place virtually closed down on the weekends. It's just a small, agricultural school.
Academic Facilities4There were few tutors, and the library had limited hours.
Social Life3It was in a small town. There was very little to do and that carried over to the students. Very quiet around there.
Placement ServicesI have no experience in this regard so I can't accurately rate this.
Alumni NetworkI did not used their resources and am not sure how they operate.
