Would Recommend?yesI think that others (especially with a love for physical education) will enjoy the facilities and teaching methods of the teachers in the HPPE department. I also think that the track program was very helpful in allowing me to put my learning to the test every day.
Program Reputation8I know that Adams State College is well known for their XC and track programs, and the HPPE department is probably the best known in the area.
Program Quality9I enjoyed Adams State College and thought that the HPPE department was very good. There were some issues with registrars that made things difficult at the end, but overall, it was very good.
Instruction8The HPPE department was very good and taught me very good strategies. I felt that some of the education teachers did not know the material that they were teaching at some points, and that made things frustrating.
How Difficult5I enjoyed the challenge of the science classes. The education classes as well as the electives were not very difficult.
Hands-On vs. BookishConsidering Physical Education is predominantly psychomotor, we did a lot of hands-on training. We were in the gym, practicing teaching each other. There were books and studies in the classroom, especially with the science classes, but labs were very hands on also.
Schedule Flexibility10Adams State College has a very large online "by extension" course catalog. I always felt like the times that classes were offered fit with my busy athletic schedule.
Academic Facilities10The have a brand new HPPE facility and training center. The technology is new, as well as the classrooms and labs.
Social Life10I enjoyed my track team. I spent most of my social time with them and enjoyed spending time on and off campus. The school provided many opportunities to support athletics and other events socially.
Placement Services10My professors were more than helpful in providing letters of recommendation. I think they gave us great practice in student teaching, as well as observations.
Alumni Network10The Adams State College alumni get together pretty often, it seems, and they work hard to support the school. There is a publication that is sent out to alumni that keeps us informed.
