Would Recommend?yesIt is a great school for education majors. It is also a good school for film majors or minors.
Program Reputation9Keene is an excellent school for education majors. There is a real focus on education: the English program was strong and they offer an exceptional film program.
Program Quality8I feel that Keene State prepared me well for teaching. Their program allowed practice in the classroom before it was too late to get out if you did not enjoy the field work.
Instruction8With both secondary education and English, Keene offered many courses that were rigorous and interesting. The professors were helpful.
How Difficult7I found that the work was challenging but approachable. The higher level courses were difficult but extremely interesting.
Hands-On vs. BookishHands on, teaching and methods work in the classroom. Also many English courses required active participation and creativity.
Schedule Flexibility8Pretty flexible and willing to work with people who need to hold a job as well as attending school. Night classes that met once a week were also accessible.
Academic Facilities8My advisor was always available and willing to meet and help. Study groups were common, and we used the materials in the library.
Social Life8Many school-sanctioned social events were fun. Spirit is high, with a definite focus on basketball.
Placement Services8They were very helpful and resourceful when searching for a job. Consistently checking in and adding helpful advice.
Alumni Network2Not much contact or support aside from a few newsletters and requests for donations.
