"I received my degree and that is what I wanted to obtain. Would I go back? Yes, because of the flexibility in scheduling; however, the price is a huge deterrent."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | maybe | If they wish to receive a degree fast and have a heavy work schedule, then I would recommend it. If they wish to receive a grand job after graduation, then I would tell them to think again. |
| Program Reputation | 1 | People view Strayer as an easy school, which it is, in a way. Also, with it working around the schedule of a working professional, people view it as not as difficult as a more prominent university. |
| Program Quality | 5 | Strayer, while providing a great program for individuals with a full-time job, provides an easy curriculum as well. I feel as if I was not challenged enough in the work I completed, especially considering the price I paid. |
| Instruction | 5 | Strayer is for working professionals and as such, expects that you receive your preparation from on-the-job training. |
| How Difficult | 1 | Very easy. It was the first time during my educational process that I received straight As on a report card. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | Hands-on experience was achieved through the job you held. You applied what you learned to your job. There were no "field trips" or things of that kind to coincide with your education. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 10 | You can take classes online or in a classroom setting, and there are at least 5 campuses in my area for the classroom classes. There is always a class available, no matter what your schedule is. |
| Academic Facilities | 4 | The campus I was at (Woodbridge) is very small, and very limited in its resources. We had a computer lab, and availability was great; however, it cannot compare to that of a more prestigious university. |
| Social Life | 1 | I went to Strayer to study and take classes, and that's pretty much what I got out of it. There wasn't a football or basketball team, or really any clubs. The few social meetings were done by individuals and not the school. |
| Placement Services | 7 | A lot is done to help you find a job, including seminars, career counseling, and job fairs. Strayer is very apt at making sure you can find a job once you leave. |
| Alumni Network | I don't really keep in touch with people who went to Strayer. While I work with those who went to Strayer, I do not perceive the same affiliation that I view from people who go to a major university (i.e., Virginia Tech, George Mason, Penn State). |
