Degrees and Schools

Some community colleges, vocational schools, technical schools, colleges and universities offer degree programs in sound technology, audio technology and audio production. Sound Technicians Job Description

Sound technicians take care of the technological needs of music and sound for various events and productions. They assemble and operate a variety of sound related equipment. Those working for radio and television stations are responsible for the quality of sound as its recorded and transmitted. Sound technicians use digital technology.

Sound engineering technicians are involved in a variety of entertainment and events including television, radio, sporting events, theater, movies, concerts, musical recordings, speeches and film.

  • Record music, speech and other sounds
  • Talk to producers, performers and others to determine the desired sound for a production
  • Create musical instrument digital interface programs for music projects, film postproduction or commercials
