"Academically and for its size, NSU is quite satisfying. Plus being a state university, tuition is affordable."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?yesInstead of the six figures you would pay elsewhere, you get a quality education for 1/4 of that. Plus, the community is friendly and the setting picturesque.
Program Reputation5For those who choose NSU, they will get a quality education. However, because of its rural location, it is probably not rated very highly.
Program QualityAlthough the work is challenging like anything it can get repetitious. Also the Defense Industry is volatile at best.
Instruction6The quality of the coursework and the instructors are adequate. However, the school does not offer enough night or online courses.
How Difficult6Programming and Applications were the most fulfilling coursework. However, the rudimentary things like math and English were the most difficult after being away from school for years.
Hands-On vs. BookishEven in the 90's computer lab work was essential and required. Yet the professors went over the books in depth as well.
Schedule Flexibility5They do offer night and weekend classes and have several satellite locations. Yet like I pointed out earlier, night and online courses are limited.
Academic Facilities7For its student body size, NSU has facilities and faculty that are quite good. The faculty and staff pride themselves on their friendliness and accessibility.
Social Life7Other than attending a couple of football games, I didn't socialize much. But from talking to on campus students, the social arena seemed to be very good.
Placement Services6From those I talked to, this was very good. However, I was already employed so this was not an issue.
Alumni Network5I have never had much interaction with alumni, so I cannot give a true response to this question.
