"South Alabama provides a good education at a reasonable cost. The campus is very nice and active. I enjoyed it very much."

| Would Recommend? | yes | Computer science is still a growing field and it has a very broad scope of interests within it. I am pretty sure that just about anyone can find something they like about the field. |
| Program Reputation | 7 | The school still has a large enrollment and is graduating many cs majors. I don't know how rigorous the current catalog is though. |
| Program Quality | 9 | South Alabama provides good facilities and good teachers which are a bonus. The courses are a little bit outdated though. |
| How Difficult | 8 | Some courses were very easy. The math courses were not. I thought that the math courses were a bit more theoretical than they needed to be. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | CS - we were always coding so it was extremely hands on. I have heard that other studies are fairly hands on as well, but I have no direct experience. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 9 | It is primarily a commuter school and so they have to be flexible. That said, there are a number of courses which are only offered once a year so you have to be careful to get those when you can. |
| Academic Facilities | 9 | The labs are well equipped. They are currently in a building phase and that is a good thing. |
| Social Life | 10 | I had a blast at school. There was always something to do and new folks to meet. |
| Placement Services | 5 | Just like any other school, they really care more about getting your money than helping you find work. Again, the current dean of CS is working to change that. |
| Alumni Network | 6 | All they ever want is money from the alumni. I will say that the school of computer science is trying to break past that, but it is slow going. |

| Would Recommend? | yes | I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who wants to major in engineering and is smart enough. UIUC is your best bet to a happy and informational college experience. |
| Program Reputation | 10 | It is one of the top five colleges in the US for computer engineering and computer science. |
| Program Quality | 9 | Computer Science and Computer engineering are two of the best departments to major from at UIUC. UIUC has world class facilities and amazing teachers. UIUC's alumni have invented really amazing stuff, like the quantum well laser and transistor. |
| Instruction | 8 | UIUC also has great faculty members, as some of them are Nobel Laureates. |
| How Difficult | 9 | All the physics and math courses are super competitive. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | Most of the conceptual classes are coupled with a Lab class and a discussion class so that one can understand the most possible information from each lecture. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 7 | Class schedule was not very flexible as there are too many students to accommodate. |
| Academic Facilities | 9 | UIUC has over a 100 libraries. The Grainger library is the largest public engineering library in the US. Tutor assistants were always available when you needed them. |
| Social Life | 7 | There are several fraternity parties that happen at UIUC. Some events include DJ's coming to the city to party. |
| Placement Services | 9 | The career services center is an amazing place where every UIUC student can get free advice on building a resume to finding jobs. |
| Alumni Network | 9 | For recruiting graduating students. Several highly placed alumni take in large number of UIUC students. The university also gets gifts from large companies. |
