"Got a degree and got a job. After a couple of years it really didn't matter any more. It just seems that one must pay for a degree so your resume looks better to potential employers."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | maybe | I'd have to review the current curriculum. Last time I looked at a course schedule they seemed to have more classes with MS Office geared towards business students or for the web hacker. |
| Program Reputation | 5 | Other state schools are treated as better by some employers but I think it is more of a networking issue rather than true quality of education based on my experience with those who graduated from other schools. |
| Program Quality | 5 | Did not find the course work stimulating. Mostly just taking classes to satisfy the degree requirements. Was particularly annoyed with those who thought they wanted to be in the field because it paid well but had no aptitude for the work. |
| Instruction | 6 | There were several professors who were working part time but had real world experience. They were the ones who seemed to get what we needed to know. The others were just teaching the book and really couldn't back up the theory. |
| How Difficult | 2 | Did not find any of the classes difficult enough to spend much time outside of class studying until I got to the upper division/graduate level courses. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | Computer time was very restricted, but several tasks were required for each class. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 2 | Almost all classes were offered between 8AM and noon. |
| Academic Facilities | 3 | It's difficult to catch professors in their offices. Their office hours were not close to class times. WSU is mostly a commuter school so one would have to return to campus to see an adviser. Labs were OK but nothing special. Tutors were only available for the introductory level classes. |
| Social Life | 1 | No school spirit. The school cut the football program while I was there and charged students to get into other games even though they demanded an earlier fee to support the athletics program. They are better with basketball and baseball. |
| Placement Services | 3 | They did have a job bulletin board but no real push to help with lining up interviews with any companies. After I was out of school for a few years I returned to look for something else but all they had were entry level positions at local companies. |
| Alumni Network | 1 | Don't know any alumni. Haven't heard anything from the school except for requests for money. |
