Would Recommend?yesThe school was flexible. The staff was very educated on the subject matter they taught. The teachers were the cream of the crop.
Program Reputation6I'm not sure what the major is like at the school now.
Program Quality5It was okay. The school wasn't very hands on in their approach.
Instruction10All my professors were top notch. They also gave extra time if you needed help on anything.
How Difficult8I did not find the subject matter difficult. I was very interested in what I was studying.
Hands-On vs. BookishEverything was book learning at the school. That is what my professors preferred.
Schedule Flexibility10The class schedule was good as I had numerous days and times to pick from.
Academic Facilities8I had numerous resources to use.
Social Life6My social experience was not good. I did not live on campus. Thus, it was my fault, not that of the schools.
Placement Services1I was not placed anywhere by the school. I had to do it all on my own.
Alumni Network1I did not receive much info from the alumni.

Studying Art Education (completion in 2011)

"I enjoyed attending my school. I had a good relationship with professors and other students. The campus was large enough to meet a diverse group of people, yet small enough to be close with peers. Professors were helpful and knowledgeable."

Would Recommend?yesThe education program at my school was outstanding. The art program was taught by working artists. I felt prepared to enter the workforce after I was finished with school.
Program Reputation7My college had a reputation for being a great school for future teachers, and had an amazing education program with a high enrollment. However, the art department was lacking compared to other schools.
Program Quality8Rowan University was a great school for education. Professors were knowledgeable and helpful. I received a lot of in-classroom experience, which helped greatly when I started working.
Instruction7Most professors were good at implementing a relevant curriculum and taught me things I needed to know to teach. However, nothing prepares you for becoming a teacher better than experiencing a classroom yourself.
How Difficult8Becoming a secondary education major at my school required that you chose a double major. I had a large workload mastering both art and education.
Hands-On vs. BookishBoth of my programs involved a lot of book learning at first. Once knowledge was gained, we did hands on practice.
Schedule Flexibility8Most classes ran several times a week. Classes were offered at various times during the day and at night. Classes were also offered during winter break, during summer, and online. No classes were offered during the weekend.
Academic Facilities7The art building was physically constructed poorly and was leaky. Art professors were very close and open to students. Education professors were also close and open. Buildings were physically open late, and opened early, so work could be done during any hours needed.
Social Life8Parties and social activities were very enjoyable. The school offered weekend activities for students who were not interested in attending parties. Athletics were lacking.
Placement Services6Professors helped me to find jobs and recommended me at various schools. The career placement center was not as helpful as I would have liked.
Alumni Network5The school helped with job placement, and I felt comfortable asking professors to help with job applications and placements. However, there are not many opportunities for alumni to get together through the school. Meeting with other classmates has to be done on your own accord.
