BrainTrack Announces Computer Science Scholarship Winners for Spring 2010

George Mason University and University of Wyoming Winners Offer Practical Guidance for Future Students

MARLBOROUGH, MA, June 2, 2010 –– BrainTrack, a widely referenced higher-education resource, today announced the Spring 2010 winners for its BrainTrack Computer Science Degree Scholarship, a biannual scholarship for computer science degree students that is designed to help prospective students. The winners are Paul Otten of George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, who received the $1,000 first-place award, and Zeb Fross of University of Wyoming in Laramie, WY, who received a $500 second-place award.

"Our Computer Science Degree Scholarship program results in essays that we are publishing as student stories," said David Siegel, Vice President of Operations with BrainTrack's publisher, Futuremeld, LLC. "The collection of these stories gives those considering computer science degrees and careers the valuable experiences of current students to draw upon. The winners were based on the creativity and usefulness of their essays."

BrainTrack Computer Science Degree Scholarship winner Paul Otten, who has completed two years toward a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from George Mason University, wrote that he has enjoyed "being taught by computer scientists who were studying the latest discoveries in computer science" most during his time in school. His winning essay encouraged prospective students to research every class that is required for a computer science degree, including the objectives for each class, in order to prepare in advance to succeed.

BrainTrack Computer Science Scholarship runner up Zeb Fross is working towards his Bachelor in Computer Science at University of Wyoming. In his essay, he recommended that prospective students look to schools who repeatedly win national computer science competitions for a quality education, and suggested that beginning students set a goal to get to know at least two professors in their first semester.

A summary of useful tips offered by entrants, as well as the winning essay entries, are published in BrainTrack's Computer Science Student Stories section.
