Brethren Church Colleges
Organized in 1708 in Schwarzenau (Bad Berleburg), Germany, The Church of the Brethren is a Christian denomination originating from the Schwarzenau Brethren. Brethren advocate the basic beliefs of Christianity, including the divinity of Christ. The Church of the Brethren is one of the historic peace churches. The first American church was established in 1723. It has more than 125,000 members in over 1,000 congregations. General offices and the Brethren Press are located in Elgin, Illinois.
