Christian Church (Disciples Of Christ) Colleges
The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), also know simply as The Disciples, is a mainline Protestant denomination in the US. It has been a significant part of worldwide Christianity through the evangelistic work of its missionary societies. The Disciples' local churches are congregationally governed. Membership currently exceeds 690,000, with nearly 4000 congregations throughout North America. Its history dates back to the early 19th century.

From their inception, Disciples have placed a high value on the education of its leadership. Alexander Campbell, a founder, himself taught young leaders, and founded Bethany College, a liberal arts college, in 1840. Similar schools followed, especially in the post-Civil War era, today numbering over 15 across the US, and offering Bachelors, Masters, professional and Doctoral degrees. The relationship between the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and its affiliated universities are overseen by the Higher Education and Leadership Ministries (HELM), an agency of the General Church. HELM regularly provides students with need-based financial aid and grants.
