Swedish Lutheran immigrants founded the Swedish Evangelical Mission Covenant of America (now ECC) in 1885 in Chicago, Illinois. ECC is an evangelical Christian denomination of more than 730 congregations and over 110,000 members in the United States. Historically Lutheran in theology and background, the ECC is now a growing multi-ethnic denomination. The ECC’s denominational offices are located in Chicago, Illinois, where they also operate North Park University, North Park Theological Seminary and Swedish Covenant Hospital.
